Lets talk GEC!

Unfortunately, if they haven't announced a general run outside of the B&S knife by now, I find it unlikely we will see any other variants aside from the committed SFOs. I'm certainly holding out for the rumored M&G version. If they stick to the old M&G ad, it will be a jack style with Spear main and Pen secondary. There is also the "Carpenter's Knife" from their old catalog - it has a Spear main with sheepfoot and pen secondaries. That would certainly tickle my fancy as well.
There was one sfo with smooth white bone and a single blade right? I heard about it way too late but it seems like it would be a very popular run.....

I am not certain on that - I would have to find the post where Darren (@waverave) mentioned what he knew or had heard. I think the rumored M&G SFO is said to be in Ebony in a 2-blade jack format - I still think that is subjective though so please don't quote me. Otherwise, I did hear that a single blade SFO was being built for another outlet as well but I don't know the specifics on that one.

It is also entirely possible that there will be a Northwoods run with this pattern as well.

Yea, I’m talking about the one Darren mentioned. Not sure why it’s so hard to find out what versions will be sold by who. It’s beyond annoying.

I believe the M&G will be opposite end spear pen.
Unlike that old M&G photo that’s been floating around? I mean... if they do it like the Churchill, more power to ‘um- I just don’t know if they’d do another super slim secondary!

My M&G doesn't look like the photo that came in my box.
I guess we will find out soon enough.

I've been through a fair number of old M&G catalog snippets and ads (mostly due to other unrelated research I am doing) and I haven't come across an example where a cigar pattern akin to the #35 is utilizing a pen configuration. A few examples where they are implementing a jack or cattle configuration though. Obviously I haven't seen everything so it is entirely possible that there are some with pen configuration. I think all of my M&G knives (aside from some minor aesthetic differences) are decent reproductions of the little card with the old ad that they include with each knife.

The print of the knife on the upper right is a pen configuration but it appears that it would suit the #68 frame a lot better than the #35 but that, of course, is my opinion.

:) I like to make my point seen

Here's some more for y'all :D

absolutely gorgeous. Those #25’s have my full attention.

Edit: off hand, does anyone remember the last time they ran #25’s? We’ve got to be due by now...

Looks like 2017.
Man... just missed them. Became aware of GEC on the very back end of 2017. Looks like it might be a wait. I’m enthusiastic about them, but I’d only probably buy one. I don’t know if that’s the general consensus, but I just have so many knives now I’ll never get around to using two.

as it is, I have to make a new box to store more knives. I’ve been storing my twelve favorite in a box, and my GECs have kicked out so many of my Case favorites. There are a lot of knives that deserve a place in a wooden box.

Same just bought a used reproduction box until I find some time in the fall to build my own. Been on a bit of a rampage getting what I could of this and last years patterns. Pretty much done with that now and I’ll try and just be patient as new ones are released. We’ll see how that goes...

I'd like a new run of #25's...
But would only buy a Single Spear Blade with no EZ Open Notch.
But even if not, I'd still like to see a run of them to admire all the pictures.

I’m sure there’s an exception to the rule (anytime I say something definitive about GEC, there always seems to be an exception ;)), but they generally don’t do an EO notch on the spearpoint #25’s. Here are some non-Barlow spearpoint #25’s from the 2015 run. The notch on the orange jigged bone was added by Bob (@BigBiscuit).

Of course, I personally like the EO notch on these. :D

Looks like 2017, but that was barlows. Mine is 2015.

Good looking stag #25. I remember shopping for those. I bought mine from a dealer who had them listed individually, and missed out on my first choice because I waited a few hours and had to go with my second choice. Funny how things have changed. :D

I still think I ended up with a nice one, and I ended up grabbing a sheepsfoot with the same serial number, too.
