Mini Tolk impressions or reviews?

I did not place an order myself, so am just curious whether you guys have received yours, as it has been about a month since his last promising update.

I am looking forward to watching your review on the piece, hopefully sometime soon.
 
I was really close to ordering one of these like 45 days ago on his site. At the time, the word was they'd be shipped out like..in a week. Glad I didn't buy one lol. Still anxious to see them, his knives are gorgeous.

). Put quickly, it's pretty great. Then again, I was one of the very first orders, as I helped Brad test his ordering site. And mine is listed as constructed last weekend, so he's finally in production.

As for ordering, Brad said he's going to finish this batch before another preorder, but said to have people email him at (info) at his website southardknives.com to get put on the mini tolk mailing list.

miso2 miso2 hey bro personally I loved the design on the knife size weight blade shape. Things I didn't like were that to me the machining on the handle felt unfinished, i'm not quite sure how to describe why but it did. Blade finishing on the stonewashing didn't seem as nice as a crk stonewash. The blade was also slightly off center in the flat section at the tip it was centered but more towards the flat on the blade it was off center. I also didn't like the way he did the lockbar insert if it was more hidden like Reate does it would have been cleaner looking.

I may be being very picky on this but I felt for the price it should have been closer to perfection.

I have customs done by hand for over and below the price Brad asked on these and I felt even the cheaper ones were of higher quality.

Thank you very much for your impression on mini Tolk. With the price, which is way higher than that of my only custom as well as the original Tolk, I would be very picky and expect perfection as well.

From pictures, I was also not sure about the lock insert, which is not hidden and even sticks out vertically from the spring.
Do you think the centering issue resulting from blade warping? If so, that is disappointing.

Hopefully, it will be refined over the next iterations.

Well it doesn't look like my pictures showed up... but the knife is pretty much what I was hoping for. First impression was that it was a bit smaller than I expected and extremely light. 2.64oz... Fit and finish seems good. It has a very matte feel to it and has very fine corduroy lines that fade from front to back. A nice effect and makes the knife super grippy. I had some reservations about ordering it in blue but I'm glad I did as it looks great with the copper accents.

Size - it is about the same size as a Neon (a bit smaller actually) Exactly the same length as a ZT0450 if that helps.

The lockbar insert is indeed visible although I don't regard this as a problem. In a knife this compact the LB is only a few mm wide and I think trying to hide the insert would have resulted in some really tiny bits of Ti and steel and compromised strength. I am pasting some pics of the blade and lb- sorry the lighting isn't so good. Tip is centered perfectly, the mid section of the blade may be favoring the pres. side by a CH depending on the lighting. As I mentioned the handle does have a matte/textured feel which I really like but you may not if you prefer a more shiny metallic finish.

Thanks for the pics. The blade seems to be centered nicely to me. You are right about the insert. I actually think this small frame lock should be fine without it.
