Could your work be any better bro?!

I am blown away man, just hitting new levels everytime I take a quick look at what you've been up to!

Amazing work man, just top notch all around....

(Time to make a folder please!!)

Thanks man =) I wish!! Hopefully some day but you will be one of the first to know when I do

You need to post some before and after pics of my sons knife. When you get to it. The transformation is awesome. The outcome is unbelievable.

Great looking grinds! Josh has been busy the last few days with a handful of my knives. Communication and work in progress reports / images have been outstanding. Looking forward to refreshed EDCs that will be Razor sharp!

Particularly excited about his work on a Texas Knife Mafia Gunhammer. Really enjoy the knife, but the blade thickness kept it from being a great slicer. Josh has the remedy.

After seeing some of Josh's work on here and getting a Spyderco Farid K2 I decided it was time to take the plunge I sent a couple blades (Spyderco Farid K2 and Benchmade 710 in M390) to Josh for some regrind and sharpening love.

Here are the admittedly poor photos. I will try for better ones later. Meanwhile see what he did at my request:

The trailing point was what kept me from the K2 initially although Ankerson's review finally swayed me. The tip would get caught on things I didn't want to cut a lot when using it. So I asked Josh to drop point it and while we were at it, to thin the blade to improve its already impressive cutting. He took it too about .010" at the shoulders with a 13dps grind and a 17dps micro bevel. This knife is sharp, so sharp that when trying to whittle hair it just severed it completely. (This is his regular 1000 grit edge, nothing fancy ., no polish etc...)

The 710 is a special knife, in size and feel, it just seemed too "thick" so I asked josh to thin and give it some distal taper, taking down to around .007" at the shoulder with 15dps. This one with the thin blade makes an awesome slicer... I can slice hairs guiding the cut as it splits the hair, this also just has his regular 1000 grit edge on it.. This will soon have a pair of Keyman holey scales in ivory snake Juma. :)

You can see how thin the bevel is in this shot

Of course both get the regrind logo. :) I am so pleased with these. And being as both tested very hard for their production ranges they should hold edges and cut for a long long time.

Josh they are awesome !!! Thank you again!

Here are some more photos of the 710 in its final form

I know it's been a while Josh, but I have a couple of kwaikens that I'd like you to take to slicing school! Boker Burnley mini kwaiken and Rike 1507s...they're adequate, but I know they could be so much more. I think the main problem is the large angle of the secondary bevels, though I defer to your expertise for the final diagnosis. Is now a good time for you, or are you crazy busy?

Hey Craig! How's your 0450 holding up? Still got it?

Well now is as good of a time as any lol, I think I got busier after Christmas though... 3-4 week turn around and I'm doing this thing full time! hehe Sorry I can't be quicker bud.

I sold the 0450, but believe me when I say it wasn't easy thanks to your work! Just time for some new experiences. It's gonna be tough being without these two for a month, but I can't trust anyone down here...the one time I took a used CRKT GSD to a place to get the chips and nicks sharpened out, the guy BUTCHERED it in 3 seconds on some industrial belt thing. Yeah, NO THANKS. Just look at this hatchet job:

Lol! Well it's 3-4 weeks for regrinding one, but it's only 2-3 days for basic sharpening jsyk.

I sent my XM-18 back to josh for a regrind. I am mad at myself for not just having him do the regrind the first time. I didn't realize how think the cutting edge on a spanto really is. It doesn't cut very well IMO. Well the regrind fixed all of that. I am military and this knife gets used. I didn't buy it to look at it (though it is nice to look at), I bought it because I needed a knife that would hold up in the field and not run on bearings. Bearings are a no no for me in the field.

Anyway...Josh is a master at his craft. This knife is very sharp. With what I do, a knife that doesn't cut well won't do me much good. Now I have a knife that has the legendary Hinderer durability and cuts well. I do occasionally have to do some light prying and I am not worried one bit that the reground spanto won't be able to handle it. It is still plenty think.

I also had Josh black out the knife. The first Hinderer I ever saw was a DLC coated xm-18 and instantly fell in love. I didn't feel like emptying my back account to get one either so this was the next best option. The coating turned out very nicely. I think this is how they should come from the ranch though DLC coated. It is a little tougher than cerakote.

Above all of Josh incredible work is his customer service. His communication is top notch and he really put me at ease with sending the most expensive knife I own to a complete stranger. My emails were answered very quickly including on Sunday's. He also went out of his way to make sure I had the knife back in my hands before my next deployment. That alone speaks louder than anything to me.

Long story short: Josh's work is incredible and his communication leaves nothing to be desired. IMO the regrind is a must for all XMs. Thank you Josh.

Please forgive my photography skills or lack there of. The nice photo on the regrind is Josh's photo. The assembled knife is the final product.
