My first HI Khukuri, the M43 by Thirta Kami

SCR, I also look forward to your new khuk's arrival with much anticipation. I'll be very happy if they can meet the weight. I'm also curious to see if the handle is the typical HI 6" or closer to the original 4.5" - 4.75". Bura made at least one 24 oz. M43 and I believe it is the same one used by a forumite to build trapper cabins and live in the wilds for an extended period. Please give us an update when it arrives. Thanks.

Sorry to take this off topic, but after receiving my 18" ASTK, I'd love to know more about someone building a cabin with a kuk! I can see it being done, but wow that must have been a lot of work!

Edit: o.k. before someone calls me out for not using the search function, it was Wildmike, and I'm in the process of hunting down the specific posts, but he posted about a 1000 times.

Great review and pictures as well. I loved seeing and reading everyone's views on the M43. I have recently ordered my first Kukri and M43, it really is amazing how they do call to you like a puppy in the window saying take me home. I am eagerly awaiting for it come in so it can be shipped to me. I will post my own pics and reviews of it when i finally get it.

Just wanted to update you and our friends here about custom ordering a lighter Himalayan Imports M43.
On Feb. 12, 2012 I went ahead and ordered a HI M-43 with the requirements/specifications of:

-Villager fit and finish
-Wood handle
-24 oz (680 grams) Weight

Price: 195.00 USD sent by PayPal at 10:43 am Alaskan time.

Two months and it has not arrived yet but I know it takes a while for special orders. When I receive the closer to original M-43 you know there will be a video review .

sweetcostarica, I searched but didn't find the outcome of this order. Did you get it, and if so, how is it? I'm interested in ordering a light weight (old style) M43 too, so, very keen to hear your thoughts.
