Hi All, Newbie here from the UK, always had a fascination with knives and had several when I was younger. 40+ years ago the laws here were much more relaxed as I'm guessing they were around the world? I have always been an outdoor type into hiking, shooting, camping and bushcraft etc and it was quite common to find me and a friend somewhere in the woodland whittling sticks or making bows. How times have changed. I've a renewed interest in knives as recently stumbled across a Sheffield Stan Shaw folding knife made I believe in the late 1990's that was my late fathers and as someone who has always worked with his hands it really made me appreciate the work that had been put into making it.

Thank you for the welcome everyone and Happy New Year to you all. (10 past midnight here and time for bed) :)

Hello, I am a newbie from Phoenix, AZ. I am a budget knife kinda guy. Love that market segment. On that note, I recently bought Dalstrong chef and paring knives for my kitchen. As if that wasn't enough, I then discovered Civivi and bought a green Backlash in 9CR18MOV and then a purple Brazen with tanto blade in D2. Really impressed with the quality to price ratio with these Civivis. Years ago (1980s) when I was a turkey hunter, I bought a Gerber fixed blade hunting knife. It sat in my closet for years until I began my recent knife craze. The other day I pulled out my whetstones and re-sharpened the Gerber. I am having trouble identifying the model and steel type. Seems a rare model with no stamping other than the Gerber sword in mountain logo. Will post a picture and request id help later.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

P PaulUK at least here you won't be made to feel like a miscreant for loving sharp things.
G Greggy the budget offerings of many companies are truly great knives in their own right.

Welcome to Bladeforums!

New member, long time researcher of information pertinent to my profession and general interest.
I work in the environmental field and a long-time active certified arborist/forester down here on the gulf coast of Florida and still using conventional tools of axes/machetes for felling/bucking of limbs, with my chainsaws.
I've always loved the outdoor life, which started early on with family camping trips, further enjoyed and learned while in scouting, eventually through further training of skill sets from life experiences.

Anyways, decided to join, as I'm in the market for replacement(s) of machete/field knife and axe from my old stand-bys. For the machete/field knife, I'm eager on trying to obtain a 12"-14" stainless and looks like I'll have to go the maker route.

Thanks for a great forum!

I've been reading info and lusting over knives here for far to long now.
I have had a knife passion for pushing 60 years now. (thanks Tarzan)
I've gone from hand sharpening for family and friends to making it a little side business.
Been collecting and refurbing knives long enough for my dear Wife to beg me to never again say this is the last knife I'll need.
So anyhow, thought I would at least say hi, introduce myself, and thank you all for a great forum.
Not sure I'll ever get tired af all there is to learn here.

This appears to be the premier site on the web with solid knowledgeable members.
Bought out an estate sale 9 long blade's about a week ago.
No doubt many are Chinese but very well built Chinese so these have some resale value.
However the seller was strait up about this and he was certain none are over 100 years old.
1or 2 appear ww2 blades, But appearing genuine and actually being genuine are 2 different things for certain!
Thanks for having me.

In the 1990's it was car audio. In the 2000's it was high end outdoor gear. In the 2010's it was cars and guns. Now its the 20's and I cant give my money away fast enough to people who make pointy things....I have a problem. Thought I might be in good company here. Good day all!

Howdy! New to the forum. I have a few BM’s which I love (Ares, Volli, Infidel, Contego, and Nimravus), Cold Steel Kobun, SOG Trident, and recently Microtech Ultratech. I reaaaaly love the Ultratech. Looking forward to gaining some knowledge and contributing to the forum!

Hey fellow knifantatics. I'm a long time lurker from Atlanta, GA but recently decided to join. Hopefully I can continue to learn and possibly buy/sell a few things here. I normally deal on GA's Outdoor Trader but there's just not enough knives on there.

My collection continues to evolve but for now includes: -Microtech Troodon Bounty Hunter -Medford Praetorian Genesis T -Rat Worx Chain Drive -Randall -Several ZT's, Spyderco's, Benchmade's, Gransfors Axes, etc.

Hello makers. New guy here, from southern Michigan. Made my first knife recently, not sure where to post pictures for feedback but I look forward learning a lot.

Hi folks! I've been around quietly reading and learning for years, but lately have had the desire to engage. I have never bought, sold, or traded, but I think that might help me get some added enjoyment, as well as gain wider experience and let someone else enjoy some stuff I never seem to carry anymore!

I love a good nerdy discussion, I have a lot to learn but lets talk chemistry!

Here to make friends with people who are smarter than I am.

Hello everyone.

I've lurked around this and similar forums for a few years.

Every once in a while I just feel like saying something. So I finally made an account.

I hope at least a few people will find some of my posts useful or helpful or maybe even entertaining in some way. That's really all I want.

Hello everyone, my name is Lucas Peres, I am Brazilian nationality.
I started to like knives after my father's encouragement, today I can make some models
from scratch, I'm always looking to learn more and more.
I hope to learn from everyone here. Greetings.

Hello everyone,

I am Swiss and live there.

Very happy to have found this exchange forum, it is a rather intimate passion (at least for me). So I look forward to participating.

I have a modest collection, I prioritize artisanal models, from French craftsmen.

My dream is to have a modern, compact and sleek David Lespect, wooden handles and a beautiful blade. It would be a consecration.
But more than the budget, it is the availability that is complicated. I hope one day to find a second-hand item, advertised or from a collector.
The day will come.

Hello there,
I am George , I live in France and I feel a little bit American since I spent 10 years in California . I like folding knives mainly David Lespect and Raphael Durand . Ram's fan I follow most of the games broadcast in Europe .
