New Products Debuting at SHOT show!!!!!

will the shirts be for sale anytime? they look great

I doubt it. These are just our "professional" shirts for shows and the like. Give all us monkeys baths and dress us in decent clothes so folks don't know what kind of whackjobs they're dealing with.:D

loving this blade

thought we were told to quit taking the scales off anyways :D

 wonder what kind of sheath it will come with?

I had Jeff put up the post about removing the handles and I think it was misunderstood a little. The main point was not to NEVER remove the scales. The problem was people were taking them off JUST to clean them. It is just not necessary to remove them for cleaning and it creates more of an opportunity to lose parts and strip fasteners... Thats all...

There might be the NEED to remove the scales in the near future though...:D

There are a lot of comments about the choil on these prototypes; help me understand why it would be so advantageous without it.

I'm interested. A choil-less 4 would rule.

I would have to second that. To an extent. One thing I HATE is having a knife that has no choil at all. And I mean NO choil. Like most scandi's. I like ot have a small sharpening choil, because every knife that I've had that didn't have ANY choil quickly ended up with the start of a recurve back there, which, while not detracting from the usage of the knife, I guess, just irritates the pi** out of me. So, I have started putting my own choil on any knife that comes with none at all. That is easy, so I would just as quickly buy an ESEE-4SS with NO choil as I would the one pictured. Perhaps more quickly, as i have noted that in cutting some things, if I don't have my finger in the ESEE-3 or -4's present choil, the material gets in there and ... well, the choil ain't gonna cut nothing, so I have to back up and start again. Is it something that will cause me to NOT buy an ESEE-4SS? No. I just recognize the limitations of choiless, small choils, and big choils. They all will work, and I'm perfectly capable of adapting.

DO I SEE A -5 WITH A CLIP POINT?!!!!

And how do we get an Izula shot glass??????

Otis, as you can see I'm new. I appreciate the link. It just seemed everytime, since I've been a member, that it was mentioned that there wasn't even an interest in a choilless ESEE.

welcome to the forum man. tou should try the kool-aid. jeff makes some mean party liquor.

I don't think it would be necessary to take them off much with this new knife anyways. A firesteel in the handle is a backup, last-ditch sort of fire-starter that is always with the knife. Not something to continually be used just for the heck of it. Of course, it would be good to take it out and practice a once or twice. But outside of that, I think is a bit over kill.

Me if I were to buy something like this, would take them off once and make a fire with it to confirm everything worked properly and not do it again unless it was an emergency. So more than likely they would never be removed again as I always have multiple different ways of making fire on my person when I head to the woods.

Hi there,

i finally have to make my first post here.
First of all: I like the ESEE-3 Folder and the ESEE-4 stainless protos a lot. As soon as these are released they are a must-buy for me. But I understand the discussion about a smaller/no choil on ESEE knives because a choil can be a more hindering than helping thing. And as the ESEE-4 SS is a prototype there might be a slight chance of a small design change. I was so free to modify the pic of the stainless 4 a bit so everyone can see what a difference it would make. What a beauty! But see for yourself:

just sayin' that a higher end stainless would be more interesting. i'm not too impressed with the 440 grades.

That's kind of where I am. I LOVE the look of it and 440C done right can be very good. I was thinking something like CPM S35V or CPM 3V...of course those are going to be a lot more expensive...a lot more. Also remember (in the context of using 440C) that heat treated well, it is very good and many of the other great choices (VG-10, Sandvik) are not going to be readily available.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

The top picture is fantastic!

Can you do the same with the LazerStrike?
