Nutnfancy's take on the Junglas

Watched the whole video. His enthusiasm makes it entertaining so it didn't seem that long. Only problem I had with the review is now I want a Junglas....and this just after picking up a 6.

I suggest spending less $$ and start out with your first large blade being a machete. Play with that and learn how to use a large blade before moving into an expensive blade like the Junglas.

I know you're just being frank and for that...thank you. But this reverse psychology is not helping! :D Seriously, it's like a bottle beer with a label that reads "Don't Drink Me."

We think of machetes as only good for slashing soft vegetation, but that is not true. They can chop very well, and with the proper technique, binding is not a problem, especially with a good convex grind on them. The only reason our ancesters didn't use them in settling our woodlands was that the manufacturing techniques for making such long steel blades affordable did not exist. I won't say that a machete will out chop a skilled axe man, but they chop well enough for camping and survival purposes. And they are much easier to use for me than an axe.

In a few trips to Brazil, I've watched the locals do EVERYTHING with a machete. They use them to hammer nails, cut wood for construction, trim trees, etc. That's what sold me. I bought a Tramontina before I left town after seeing how tough they were.

Just got my Junglas but noticed right out of the box that the kydex seems to attach backwards on to the backing! the d ring type swivel on snap retaining strap that you would want on blade side. so the strap drops away from cutting edge on withdrawing the knife from sheath. seems to be on the wrong side. the junglas wants to cut away at it's strap every time it's taken out. I took kydex off and reversed along with sliding tension screw. but now if i wear on my right side its set up for a cross draw. it's backwards if i draw with my right. surprised nutn didn't mention this! Did anyone else find this odd or am I completely missing something?

I don't know about machetes, but at least it was a fair review. although I did manage to do a ton of others things while listening to it... seesh 41 mins

His reviews are always painfully long winded. He interviewed Rob Leatham with his video camera last year at Shot and it was embarrassing to watch.

???????????? I'm not sure I'm understanding your description of perceived problem.

Sorry, I know sounds confusing. The hinged part of the handle strap on backing should be on other side because every time I with draw the knife i'm slicing the non hinged side of strap which has developed a memory to its shape and stays tight to blade as I withdraw.

That sounds kind of confusing too. Hopefully a bit clearer. But it seems like a design flaw and I have not heard anyone mention it on any of the threads.

Agreed. We are planning on doing a DVD covering our training (not an instructional DVD) and I don't want any more than 15 minutes on the thing. Much past that and it will bore the hell out of everyone.

Your old Peru VHS tape that you sold was much longer than 15 minutes, and I watched every minute of it!

I know there are many knife experts on here that already know what ESEE is capable of but for the regular knife user that needs a full run down on a knife the review misses nothing. It might be weird for Mike and Jeff to hear someone go nuts over their own creation. For what Nutnfancy uses a knife for in his camping though it doesn't get any better than the Junglas.

41 minutes!!!! Hell, that's feature length movie. No way I will sit through 41 minutes of a knife video. Wow.

Haha! :D

I used to watch them now and again when they used to be 10 minutes and under. He's going Hollywood!
Was that NutN chopping away or was it Veri?

As usual a superb review. From by far the most well produced consistent knife gun gear outdoor reviewer on YouTube. Most of the people on there are overweight couch potatoes who probably never use there stuff out of their backyards.
And Nutnfancy makes high quality videos that offer am independent and unique viewpoint on many products.
Sure his videos are long, and that is why I like them, they are thorough.
Im not going to lie. I have purchased lots of knives guns and flashlights and all sorts of gear due in large part to watching his videos. And that is because they are trustworthy and reliable.
And I have been happy with most all those purchases

I have no problems with the man doing whatever review he wants, but I won't even watch Jerry Springer for 41 minutes and that's my favorite TV show.

Also, why don't people like the fact that it's 41 minutes long. The people on this forum love blades. And spend tons of time readIng up on them lookIng at them. Evidenced by many people post# well into the hundreds if not thousands. So the more the better.
Do people have such ADD that they can't watch a short TV program?

I don't watch Jerry for one minute.
I don't know who are crazier in that 'show' ,the guests or the audience. And he is laughing his ass of, filling his pockets.

What about some good porn?

Do you watch that for 41 minutes ?
Maybe that's too long also.

but here for other reasons

:D
hehe

I have been following Nutn' for a couple years now, and the guys heart is in the right place. I for one like the lengthy video's. I would rather have that, then someone give me a 2 minute rundown on the specs I can find on a website somewhere else. I like seeing the items being used, and having alot of different points covered. And as far as going Hollywood, that could not be further from the truth. He has actually turned down offers for Tv shows....that, "DUAL SURVIVOR" was one of them. He would rather just keep doing what he is doing, not to mention not having the time between Youtube and his Military and Police duties.

Jerry's the best show on TV. Yep he's making money but that's not the reason I watch it. I watch it because he has my folks from Alabama on there a lot. Springer is much funnier than porn! Anyway, my point being is no knife or gun video is gonna hold my attention for 41 minutes. Springer will get close but even he can't do that.

I didn't know Springer was still on the air?

You know who got all that Crazy crap started....Remember the Morton Downey Jr. Show, That guy was a trip.
