"Old Knives"

I like that L.F & C Cal, Nice one LOVE that lovely Swage work, like our friend Lyle says - not a lot of different types of other Handle material about - and that's a nice Wood - what do you say that would be It looks like a mellow Cocobolo?

Lyle- That's an interesting Providence Swing-guard my friend!
Gasman, you can always be sure the older Bokers put on a good show- as they did with that one - Whew..... fancy Bolsters. I kinda dig that KK as well, neat work on the Main!

Ok everyone, like Lyle said- there sure has been some outstanding Knives posted as of late! These Knives here one could be forgiven for walking by without taking all that much interest in them because of the relatively plain handles on them, but please...keep walking by so I can pick these up!!! Camillus is one of the top shelf Manufacturers, when they want to make a good Knife- I doubt there would be many that would overcome the fine workmanship that Camullis has displayed many times over now.
apart for the Pearl the other two Knives present them selves as fairly plain..... until you pick them up!

Camillus from the early 20's ( only for a very short time ) made some exceptional Stainless Knives and these are indeed exceptionally built!
Tang Stamped Stainless cutlery, Camillus's wee secret Sub Trade Mark made the Yellow Composite Handled Knife as well as the Pearl, the walk and talk on these two Knives is just simply superb, The build of the extremely compacted Pearl Whittler is outstanding, this Pearl is an extremely nice Knife!
The Yellow Handled Knife is quite Plain, a Spear main and a secondary Pen, nice Swage work that isn't massive by any means - but just everything is tight, and perfect, handling this Knife you Know you have a very good Knife in your hands!Totally, for a 90 year old Knife I think this Knife is looking pretty good!( Good sized as well @ 3& 1/2 inches )

We had the pleasure of Cal showing us some Pearl beauties a while ago, which started off a Pearl run, so here's me nearly two weeks late to the Party, and Darn!!! when a Good Whittler comes up that is built so wonderfully - that's a Knife to Treasure - I am so glad I obtained this beauty! a wonderfully built, and wonderfully decorated Knife! Pearl Fires away with some brilliant colours, I just could not capture these today with the grey dark day.Nice etch, nice Swage work, great Mill work to the Liners - a classy wee Knife for sure at a peek over 3 inches closed.

Check out just how Beffy that Main is- a very stout Main Blade!

Not only beautiful Swage work, but this shot shows the Tang Stamps you will get from both these Knives...

The other Knife is something a " little Cool", Camillus Rotary Club, I have picked this Knife up and handled it - open and closed it and put it down, my mind keeps going back to the Knife so I do the same, and them the same!!! this is a really well built wee Camillus here!
This isn't a Stainless Stamped Knife - rather your "ordinary" Camillus, but what beautiful actions on this Knife!! I think I am rather in love with this Knife- its a Beauty for sure, superb workmanship stealthy in plain clothes! I just may carry this great knife!

Hey guys, some great knives shown here! Been collecting honk falls knives for a while and a friend suggested posting a few here. Here is one I really like.

Welcome! Nice knife.

I right clicked on your picture and selected "copy image location" then clicked the image button in the post field and pasted the image url. (hope that makes sense)

Thank you sir for the kind words. I normally don't comment a lot but I do really enjoy cking out the fine looking specimens on this thread.

Yeah, love the German Goodness (Or is that one BOKER USA?). That KK is an Imperial (I think?).
That particular Boker is USA made. It still has a great walk and talk on both blades. I picked up the KK several years ago. I only have the one and I've never seen a main blade that looked like that. (Factory?)

Great stuff here, as usual; thanx to everyone! Now on those Camilli, right jolly old elves; I guess I better start looking! And the Honk Falls is exceptional- blows my skirt right up!!!

Picked up this very nice Jordan St Louis grand daddy Barlow, most likely AJ Jordan, AJ Jordan imported knives from Sheffield and this one has the hammered pins typical of Sheffield knives. Most likely been cleaned as the well is quite a bit dirtier than the rest of knife.

James - That’s a very nice Honk Falls!

Gasman, that USA Utility - can’t quite see but that Tang Stamp - does it say Robeson Shuredge?

Augie - nice pick ups!!

Good eye Duncan, you are correct sir. I found it at an estate sale several years ago. I couldn't even read the Shield it was so rusty. But for five bucks I took a chance. I'm satisfied. :)

5 bucks - great stuff. That would be most probably the Mastercraft under that USA Shield which are phenomenally good Knives.
The one step up from them are the Bronze Shield have the Bronze Bearings that are just fantastic Knives!
I actually don’t see too many Robesons with the USA Shield!

Yes good eye and call Duncan! Actually the Robeson Mastercraft line had the bronze bearings on the tangs. Look closely Gas Man at the tangs on your USA utility. If it is a Mastercraft there will be bronze on the tang that interfaces with the springs. Sometimes they are hard to see because of tarnish and corrosion. The next line as Duncan says was the typically bronze shielded Permalube line that had the bronze bearings on the end or tip of the spring that engaged the tang. This change occurred because the bronze bearings were notorious for coming loose and causing blade functioning problems. They were held in place on the Mastercraft folders using a dovetail type interface that would work loose causing the issue. The Permalube folders are scarce and hard to find. I have one a split back Whittler pattern but I have a number of Mastercrafts which are more plentiful and easier to find. For 5 bucks you got a dandy:thumbsup:
