Pix and six blems for 6/3

The Dui Chirra rocks! You'll love it and if your a tall fellow, the 18" will be totally manageable and handy.

They have really nice lines and make a fine chopper. Probably won't be able to live with just one so that's a good place to start.

I second that! Everybody needs a Dui Chirra! They are gorgeous too! Thats a perk:thumbup: We usually fight over Dui Chirras here like mud minnows over breadcrumbs. You got lucky at the right time and Aunti had one so better act fast because she wont have it long now that the word is out. Welcome to the forum btw!

Hi everyone, new to the forum. I am interested in an Everest Katana, and the one for sale here seems like a good deal. However, it seems heavy. Is that the average weight(53 ounces), or is that just a heavy example?

BackInKentucky,

You're going to wait, that's good. If you talked to Yangdu, told her what you had in mind and she recommended a Dui Chirra then I would say its an excellent place to start. (Never laid hands on a Dui Chirra myself.) Much has been said on the Forum of a khuk calling out to someone and saying "I'm for you". Better to listen to Yangdu & that siren song than over-reaching just to get one. 18" is a good size, too. Again, feel free to share your thoughts after you get your first.

Hello wds1969 and Welcome to the HI Forum. Glad to have you. I can't really help on the Everest Katana question. I don't have one & can't remember specs from past readings. You may be able to do a Search of the Forum to find a variety of past DOTDs and reviews. This Katana will be the kami's interpretation of the Japanese version. A little more robust, perhaps, but from what little I remember they have good balance and many happy owners. This one at 36" averages a little more than a pound a foot which doesn't sound too bad...especially for a two handed blade. Hopefully others with more experience (and better memories) will chime in and give you some better info. In the meantime, try the Search function for some research. Glad you're here and hope you have a good time.

I just found this recent post and thought I'd share it:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1290745-Sword-Edge-Tempering

Well, darn, I went and shot myself in the foot there xD y'all are ruthless around here.... I think I'm gonna have to wait a week or two to settle into my new address anyway, so you can fight amongst yourselves for now. I will join the fray soon, though!!

Hence the reason that my Dui Chirra education is sorely lacking. I've drooled over pics of those. But they're always sharked by the time I see 'em.

And yeah, as nice as folks are here, we're all ruthless (I wonder where Ruth is?) when it comes to sharking deals.

It looks like 53 oz is just a little on the heavy side for this blade. Here are a few recent sales I found:

Ok, thanks. Would like to keep it 48 ounce or under. I'll have to email them and see if they have one at that weight. But that is a good price.
