PleaseNathan the Machinist when you release a folder make it a slicing machine so I can shun all my other folders
I have 0 interest in "heavy duty" folders!!!!!!!
I will send you everything I cut on a daily basis for testing!!!!!
I want performance not useless bulk!!!
P.S. might be the beer talking but it's the truth lol
She'd find a home in Transylvania...(and I don't mean County...)
Sold sold sold!A lot of big bulky folders are big and bulky to have the appearance of durability but when you dissect them they have weak points that would render them no more durable than a sebenza. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Big cutouts around the pivot, small pivot hardware, weak spots in the design where if you were to actually seriously pry or beat on it some of these big heavy knives would fail the same as less bulky looking folders.
Our first production folder isn't going to be a small super thin super slicy folder, but our folder will have a good mix of cutting performance and a level of durability that you can use it without worrying about messing it up. And it won't be a big ridiculous beefcake thing. Just sound mechanical design. It probably won't be very popular.
I'd have to disagree despite being a fan of the Military. To me, the Military does not embody the balance of robustness and cutting power I'd look for in something from CPK. Not saying my view is what CPK has in mind or is the right perspective, but it's what I'm hoping for.For me something similar to the spyderco military sounds similar to all of what you are describing
Just works, functionally sound and meets your criteria!!!
(One of my favorites!!!!)
Might I add I'm slightly aroused at the single thought of a CPK folder hahahaha
It probably won't be very popular.
Yeah it is shame CPK aren't popular...Btw anyone got a spare boot dagger lying around? I hear they aren't popular either, but I am here to helpOh dear Lord. Merry Christmas Nathan!
That's so the hobo with one tooth can have a higher psi bite force than a pitbull with all its teethI've never understood the "psi" as it relates to bite force. Is this the force of the bite divided by the square inches of surface area of their teeth? Why is it a pounds per square inch unit. Why wouldn't it just be pounds? I bet I could develop a thousand psi of force with my pinky just using a syringe if the diameter of the plunger was small. That unit of measure, in a relation to bite force, has always been puzzling to me.
modelling and measuring is fundamentally different and it is quite expected for them using different units. You could convert psi to force and you can convert that to Newton. But eventually for real life measuring, you will need that animal to bite on something and two animal with two different teeth shape will give different result regardless how much force their jaw generates. In order to take uncertainty related to teeth shape out of the equation, it is required to normalise per ares. Another thing, pressure over a surface is given by equaition P(pressure) = Force/Area if you work out the units then you will end up with N/m2. So, you will always need to normalise based on area.Veterinary Science uses force (in N) for bite force modeling and characterization, as Nathan suggests. Tons of articles you can google ...
Maybe use of pressure / psi in the press has to do with how the bites were measured ? Just a thought.
