Cata, I believe in giving second chances... I understand the complete frustration that sets in after waiting for something for such a long time and I also understand that egregious behavior by some can end up reflecting badly for CPK and their current business model. I believe that Nathan & Co are doing all that they could and beyond, heck they even recently added one more manpower and a new Mori so having the ability to offer 40 of these UFKs in back-to-back weeks, isn't something which they could've done last year.

It is really upon us, the forumites to be respectful of each other's wants and wishes. If you (not You, but you ;) ) already have one coming, then wait your turn a bit longer. If you got skunked today, don't offer extra $ to some potential scalper, just try to do better the next time and maybe you end up getting lucky too.

I agree with you, Casino... people do deserve second and sometimes, even third, chances :). However, after reading the person's (sarcastic) replies to the people (including you) that were trying to steer him/her in the right direction, not sure I can give a 4th chance ;).
Cheers!

I get where you are coming from, hell, I was looking over your shoulder on this one. That said, I have to go with the other approach. I say to all ahead of me, bring it on next week, fuckers, I wanna bump somebody who bumped me this week.

You ***whole, you were not only gleaning over my shoulder, you were literally piggybacking on me and hence slowed me down! I totally blame you :poop: :p :D

Didn't Nate say something about 40 knives should take the pressure off? I lost count, but it looks like all 40 went in less than a minute. :p

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the original FK and the FK2 is the logo placement on the blade and the little pry thingy in missing on the FK2. Oh, a better sheath for the FK2.
Am I missing anything?

My phone at work was so insanely slow, I can’t believe that I got one. Mine will be a user and I cannot wat to get it in hand. I’ve had some health issues (we all due with age) so I want to enjoy the things I have.

I like the thoughtful idea that Casinostocks proposed. There are only so many CPK to go around.

Dennis, as usual you've nailed it :D

I went from 15 DPS to 18 DPS back on the original FK because the average user needed a bit more. Advanced (and light duty) users were able to lean the edge as they saw fit. I carried this over to the new FK2

I narrowed the primary grind angles on the FK2 compared to the original and added .005" thickness to compensate. These are minor tweaks. Slightly lesswedging (overall), better cutting, more durable. The average person won't notice any difference but in my opinion it offered a better combination of cutting characteristics and durability for the average end user. These are tiny tweaks.

In something like cardboard or vegetables the new FK2 will feel more slicy because of the geometry of the bevels behind the edge. But it would have been more fragile for bushcraft and tradesmen had I not compensated. Trust me, we thought about this. We also put a little less carbon into solution which ended up in a slightly lower hardness (HRC 61, about half a point). We didn't temper this back, we intentionally put less carbon into solution. I did this because I found, in the kinds of general purpose cuts this knife is made for, we get the best edge retention with this specific heat treat. Again, it's a minor tweak, but we did our homework and I felt it was a good tweak for this application. This is our best Field Knife ever.

Man, I would definitely proxy for that guy, he's new and frustrated and it is a weird unique sales system with a lot of esoteric particulars of etiquette. It's not like he came out whining and acting entitled like he was somehow owed a proxy by the subforum, he was trying to offer value for his request. And he withdrew it when the logical extremes of what he was suggesting were sort of explained to him.

Well, I think you are sitting in spot forty, go ahead and proxy for him.

You'll recover by the time the preorders come by, it won't be too soon anyway. BTW, I don't believe 1/2 of what you said :p
Don't believe me? Send me a PM with and offer to sell me something at a decent price you know I would normally jump on and see if I don't tell you to go pound sand.

Hell, I am thinking about hooking up that guy looking for an MC in the exchange just so I can have some liquidity for the weekend.

I think you’re missing the key change: the handle shape has changed. This handle is more like a miniature HDFK, where the original had scales that were flatter/thinner. I think they circumference is similar, but more rounded now.

I just keep telling myself that I'm not going for one for myself unless it's D2;)

I'm sure that's why I did so well today, probably choke and land on the second page when the D2 run drops:(

Those were the good 'ol days when when we lost because we were slow. But at least we used to be able to post.

Now we lose because the server errors out repeatedly and the post never happens. :-(

I have a crazy idea and I'm calling it "a presale". Hear me out on this one...

I’m sure he meant in the next sale.
Now that he’s got his.

Isn’t this the fella that wanted a scandi with convex edge?

Yeah, I remember him now. I've had a run in with him before but despite the fact that I've had differences with him and that he took a shot at my response I still would not castigate him. Why? Because this is Nathan's house and Nathan's business and if I react out of despise and anger, Nathan / Jo may lose a couple of customers because of me. I'm a guest, a very esteemed one and VIP at that :D, but still a guess and not the host.

I tell you who I will not help though, the hoarders who despite having scored do not extend the courtesy to the other special needs sorts like me to succeed on my own through their greediness to score more:

If it is any consolation, I just found out what it actually looks like at the microscopic level on the server at 3PM........
