Shirogorov sucks right?

I had a shirogrov nudist in elmax I sold pretty cheap awhile back and I miss it every single day . Bought a emerson custom it's nice but it's no shirogrov . That was the smoothest flipper I have ever flipped say that 3 times fast lol.

"no frame lock"
Get a slip joint or back lock. Much less money, more sheeple friendly, too. (and if you lose it, you can replace it without taking out a second mortgage on the house.)

It aint a framelock, its a liner lock. And if you dont want to spend (or can spend) the money on a great knife in this pricerange, there are lots of other fantastic knives for 1/10th of the price. But it aint no shirogorov

To the OP,

Last year I "had" to get one just to see what all the hype was about... Ended up with two more in about 4 months time.

If you hunt around they can be had anywhere from 600-800.00 depending on what your looking for. IMO, the only down side to Shiros is the price. I own two Hati's and an F3 all in different colors, steels and finishes. Btw, they are all users. I read that you're interested in the F3. By far my favorite model. In time the price will fall... I hope.

Well ... just had to unsafe another queen. Having used both 95mm and 110mm blades into tasks.. I say for sticking into meat-- the bigger 111 is nicer in that regard.
If another 95 or Hati comes up in Elmax with the kind of config I like in the handle material/design.. will jump on it right away. :p

F3 has a fuller hand fill...so I guess it's good for the big paws.. But I'm just not a liner lock type. Prefer frame locks.

I went to Blade Show yesterday, stopped by the Shirogorov table and handle the knives in person. Wow! Now I really get it. What fantastic knives. The 95T was my favorite, but they wanted $1400. The lowest priced knife they had on the table was $1200.

I loved the knives, a lot, but I can't afford one. Maybe some day.

I also went to blade 2015 and handled their knives which were smooth as usual. I use to own a model 111 in S35VN, but ended up selling it because I tend to favor thicker blades. Only weird thing was I didn't think the model 95t at the shirogorov table had any new innovations and was priced at 1400 when the table literally to their left (recon1) were selling 95t's (used but good condition) for $825. I compared both actions since both tables were next to each other and didn't feel much of a difference other than a stronger detent with the brand new shirogorov 95t. Don't get me wrong it's a great knife, but I picked up a brand new Tashi "machine" with zirc and a vandermeulen homicide for considerably less. I will say their new Tom mayo/shirogorov collab is beautiful, which I am sure I will have to sell a kidney to own one and I am not even talking about the secondary market.

I had a F3. Traded it.

The designs are nice, but overpriced IMO compared to domestically made customs/midtechs.

How do you like the Vandemeulen? I spoke with him for quite a while, I like his blades.

Posting without reading this whole thread. Only the first page.
OP you will find there are a LOT of people here that don't understand sarcasm.:( I have run into a few problems myself with people that take everything way too seriously. I read your first post and knew what you were getting at. Then rolled my eyes :rolleyes:when I saw all the upset responses. Seems people need emoji to know your true intent. :p

I love my vandermeulen homicide. When I went to his table I was surprised he had one left in the configuration I wanted too. The knife is a beast about .20 thick w2 blade with hamon. It's great for EDC; I actually carried it the whole weekend and it felt great.

Didn't notice this thread was still active so just started a new one showing my latest Shirogorov 111 CF MRBS M390

Anyway Vlad totly came through again, (thanks bro) and my second Shiro just arrived this morning...[emoji2]

If your looking for a good deal on a genuine Shiro sent straight from The Motherland PM him as he provides an excellent service and his prices are very good.

I thought Shirogorovs were too expensive until I was able to afford my first one...and about 15 different Shirogorovs later, I still have 2 which are my main EDC carries almost every single day.
I went through almost every model they offer, and multiple different configurations of each model I handled before I found the 2 that really work for me: 95T M390 and 95CF S90V (which is a very hard model to find, and will STILL run you about $1000...trust me, I know how much it hurt). Cannot find a smoother knife than my 95CF, and that is saying a lot considering how many knives I have gotten the chance to handle. It does not drop on it's own, but I wouldn't want it to. Just give the knife the slightest wiggle though, and the blade comes all the way closed. More importantly, you cannot even feel the bearings on the blade action, defining truly smooth action.

Not only that, but I have found that all of the Shirogorovs I have ever handled had the best fit and finish I have ever gotten on a knife that wasn't from Rockstead (anyone who owns one of those knows what I am talking about). There honestly is no competition, and even though the prices are high, I have yet to find a custom maker or a mid-tech that even comes close, even when looking at the same price category.

So yeah, they're junk. Never recommend them, that way I have less competition for buying them ;) :D :p

YMMV though, as always ;)

Not a big shirogorov fan but that looks like a nice snack you have laid out. Russ

The only negative I've heard was a youtuber that had their detent ball fall out.... pretty sure it was a Shiro. That would suck if you had to send it back to Russia just for that. I like everything about them other than the fact the frame lock is on the wrong side.

I'm confused by the people who were confused by this thread.

Vlad is a good guy. And worse than a drug dealer. Lol. I've had many many dealings with him. Great guy.
