Also, if any of you PS4 owners are looking for a new game, try Witcher 3. Haven't picked up Destiny or Fallout 4 since I started playing. Incredible game.

Miserable weekend. We took Oz to the vet on Friday. He had some redness in his left eye and was bleeding from his mouth. Vet wasn't sure about the eye and wanted a specialist to look at it. Mentioned that he might lose the eye. Could not find the source of bleeding in his mouth. Might be a tumor which would not be good. We have a biopsy scheduled this week.

We've had absolutely no issues with this guy's health until now. We were really hoping for different news: "Give him these antibiotics and everything will clear up." Unfortunately, it looks like it's more serious.

Really love this dog.

We have a friend who is a vet and she's coming over this morning to take another look.

Triggs and I are shattered.

Aww man, I feel for ya. 😩
I had a Brazilian fila that was THE BEST DOG EVER.
He was like a kid and best friend rolled into a big golden/fawn package.

I've been lurking on bladeforums for years, and I remember your avatar from years ago because of your cool rottie pic.
Joining the crowd in hoping for the best.
It sucks big time that the silly purse dogs get damn near 20 years (they're not bad dogs), while the big boys are lucky if they make it past 11...
There's just something about Molossers (Bulldogs, mastiffs, and mountain dogs) that make them the best.

Sounds like spike is in LOVE..

Nanner nanner boo boo.... Spike and quality person sitting in a tree... K-i-s-s-i-n-g... :p

I had some roasted chicken and taters last night for dinner.

Oh i gave up on quoting... Tired of erasing all the old quotes that keep showing back up.

Sounds good! 😏
It's been pee'ing down rain here in SW Ohio, and being from the inland northwest with our somewhat well distributed Asian population, we were/are missing our Phõ like addicts in rehab...

95% of folks here have never heard of it. 😕
And it's a 30 min drive to the nearest decent Phõ shop.

That looks good! My wife makes an awesome Pho too. We don't really need to cook it much as there is some variation of Vietnamese Pho place on every corner around here lol. The one I grew up with is about 15min away drive, but I could also walk to the one my wife loves the most in 5 min lol.

Its true, that stuff is my cure-all. If I'm sick I head straight there for a bowl!

Damn it... now I want some.

Gus, my thoughts go out to you, Triggs, and especially Oz. Wishing him a good prognosis and hopefully a quick recovery.

For those who commented on the fishing pic, I was down on Tybee Island east of Savannah.
Work took me down there, and I stayed an extra day to go fishing on the island.
All I caught was whiting, but I had a good day out. Gorgeous weather and salt air.

On gators...
There was a gator pond at the restaurant where I stopped for lunch Saturday. Saw 30-40 little ones.
Ran seven miles Sunday, part of which was around a gator-filled lake.

So it was a treat to go to a HUGE international market and score a ton of hard to find ingredients for the soup.
If you ever get a chance, it's what they eat in Vietnam sometimes 2 or 3 meals a day!
We did a lighter (and cheaper) chicken version. If I were in 100% charge of making it (the wife had veto power) I would've use an extra 2lbs of chicken wings and backs (for the broth), along with the whole bird to increase the poultry flavor. All the poultry in the stores these days is so lean, and lacking of flavor.
This was good soup though, simply because its homemade. 😆🍜

Very nice! It's about an hour for me to the nearest pho, so I have learned to make it myself. I just wish I could get some sliced tendon around here...I suppose I'm going to have to head down to Austin and get some at an Asian food market. None of the Korean places around here carry it.

Wishing the best to Oz and Family!
I hope things work out for you all!

Hey folks,

Can't thank you guys enough for your incredibly kind words.

Our vet friend dropped by yesterday and did an exam. Her assessment was not super positive. She knows Oz and she is much more comfortable opening his mouth to find the source of the bleeding – a nickel-size sore on the inside of his upper right canine. She took a cell sample that she sent to the lab today. In some ways it was good news as we now know that the blood is not coming from his throat. We should have the results from that sample in a day or two. If it's inconclusive, she said that we should go through with the biopsy. She also looked at the eye. That caused her more concern. She felt that it was a secondary manifestation of what may be a malignant tumor.

We've known her for decades and she was very honest; chemo is not particularly effective and removing a large section of the jaw in an effort to get rid of the tumor may not work if the cancer has already spread. We weren't going to go through with those options either way. If our big boy is checking out, he's doing it with his dignity intact!

Our vet friend was supposed to go to a hockey game later that day, but she stuck around with us and we went to a bar and got drunk. Well, Triggs and I got drunk.

So, we have an appointment with an ophthalmologist tomorrow to look at the eye.

I want to thank all of you again for the support. It means a lot to us.

Here's hoping for the best Gus. Never had a dog as an adult, but always had one as a kid. I know how close one can get to their pet.

That looks amazing!!
That's what I get when I'm at a Phõ place, the tendon and tripe is my go to!

Hey guys,

I can assure you that no one is hoping that the vets are wrong more than we are right now!

Either way, Oz is going to have a great life regardless of how many more days/weeks/months he has left. We are hoping for years!

Anyway, enough with this somewhat depressing talk. Let's get to more uplifting topics like knives, fishing, guns and good food!

I'll keep you folks posted.

G
