Specs And Pricing For The TNT-15 Sword

The TNT-15 handle is Resiprene-C.

The only difference is the hardness. The TNT-15 handle is identical in hardness to our only other textured handle: the "Mudder Handle".

Both of our textured handles are made with a higher hardness than our smooth handles for durability and extreme use.

The TNT-15 handle was designed for heavy use but can still be bent in half without tearing or suffering any damage whatsoever.

The TNT-15 exhibits Excellent shock absorption.

Yup...the Regulator handles have micro-stippling <my term, apologies to the Busses'>. A nice texture that really locks you in.

Mudders are more smoothly finished, at least on the micro level.

And, imho, I think this is a genius choice for a ScrapY Sword.

Here's my reason to help support this ^^^:

When you chop down with both hands on the handle you can "twist" your hands together <like wringing out a washrag> to finish your chop to follow thru with optimal effect.

The Mudder design would accommodate this maneuver expertly, by helping you maintaining fore to aft grip <via the Mudder chevron "tread"> but allowing your palms to rotate on a horizontal axis freely without blistering.

Whereas, most other Res-C handles are set up for one-handed use with slicing and poking as primary usages and the light texture maximizes fore/aft grip minimizing sliding up or back on the handle, even when wet.

Although I've got 3 Mudders and 4 Regulators, I have yet to to pay for, not to mention swing, my TNT's, so take it for what it's worth, just an experienced guess. ;)

Props to Dan for responding.

It has been my belief that Resiprene C falls in the class of polymers known as Thermoplastic Elastomers, TPE. Think of them as rubbery heat moldable plastic. Not true rubbers, which are heat cured and cannot be remelted, nor typical plastics that have little 'give' or elasticity. TPE are sort of a hybrid and the blends are tunable to different Shore hardness for the application.

nb. This is my speculation as a practicing polymer chemist ( although not in the field of TPE ) and has never been confirmed by Busse.

Don't post much anywhere anymore, but figured I'd share some comparison pics and impressions

Impressions (haven't used it yet):

It's pretty damn slick. Very light and handles well. I don't feel like the handle is too slick, it's not super super rubber grippy and definitely solid, but the texture grips well and doesn't feel like it slides as much as the F16 (which I have to use grippy gloves with). It also feels less like a chopper than the F16, meant for branches, brush, etc. not for dropping trees but we know it would do it. The F16 so far seems balanced better for larger items just like branches or for chopping, have had mixed results using on sticker bushes and such. The edge was solid from the factory but a little stropping on the cardboard box it was shipped it did the job and became a lot more toothy.

The idea of having a set, smaller than the 15 and larger, I definitely support. 9-10" on the small with a single handed grip, and a larger possibly 20" with a full 2-2.5 hand grip...... It's a very nice design but also clearly inspired by traditional swords so would be really cool for a set.

The CBT is great, definitely a usable size.

my steel has dimples though :( Am I being nit picky ?

No, you're not. That's totally unacceptable, and I will gladly take it off your hands for 50% of your original purchase price so you can at least recoup some of your funds. :p

On a more serious note, I am curious as to what caused those dimples during the blade making process... 🤔
