We will be producing some knives with a tweaked Delta 3V soon. It was an enormous undertaking to try to improve upon the Delta protocol and, in the end, it isn't actually any better. But it is a little bit different (trading off a bit of toughness for a bit of strength) and it has a slightly higher hardness sweet spot because it does not get chippy at 62 like Delta 3V used to. Due to a finer carbide structure among other things. It will be a good fit for smaller knives where the ever so slightly enhanced edge stability is a good trade-off for the ever so slightly reduced impact toughness (notched impact, three-point bend toughness might be a little tougher).
This tweaked Delta 3V will be available on some field knives on our next sale. I'll put together a demonstration video.
do you think you will replace original D3V with this new tweaked protocol sometime in the future?
and is this exclusive to CPK? (i remember there were 3 parties that delevoped and reserve the right to use D3V protocol)
