The Basic 5" Field Knife - Thoughts and Impressions

First day off since receiving the FK3’s and able to get some daylight pics. My 2 FK3’s and the bottom CW Basic 5. Definitely a big difference in balance point on the FK3 vs. the Basic 5 CW as you can see how they sit in the pics. The grey Terotuff are awesome and have them on a few CPK’s. Great looks and awesome grip. The Crusty buffed Micarta scales are gorgeous, but of course with them having less grip.

The Basic 5 CW have the VIP scales w/Gold Ti Torx hardware

Going to run the Crusty Micarta in the gorgeous duramax duramax one of a kind slim sheath. The sheath and knife go well and compliment each other

I hear you on the knots, I’m not sure what that’s about? Had 2 2 days in a row that way. Kinda a new thing that’s a pain in the butt and I really didn’t want to have to cut my bag. Seems pretty unnecessary, I was just happy I didn’t have any boogers in mine though.

I think both are great! The BFK brings alot of confidence. A no nonsense, get it done knife. Any job I (personally) tackle would easily be handled with the BFK.

.........that FK3 is soooo sexy, though........but I'm a sucker for a swedge!! 😆

Truly can't go wrong with either!!!

I'm going back and forth. In the end I have enough swedged knives and the BFK will be better for batoning, so I'm happy with the ones I have. And if I want to loose an ounce, I'll skip desert the night before .

The SDFK is different, I only kept the swedged one. Go figure.
