My 105 one-liner was made before 28 JUN 1966; my cousin purchased it at the MCX at Camp Lejeune NC on that date. It has the flap over sheath too. OH

Beautiful set!!! Would it be too much trouble to take a pic of the back of the sheath? It seems that's part of dating them, from what I have read...

I notice the rivet is to the knifes edge side of the sheath. TAH's is to the knifes spine side of the sheath...Interesting...Also, the stitching is different....

Thank You, OH....

And don't forget the score line on each side of the belt loop. That detail was eliminated a few years later.

It was probably caused by the machinery they were using at the time. The score mark was used to hold the leather square for trimming, IMHO...When I ran a 3 color corrugated paper press we depended on the scores not only to create fold lines but to help guide and pull the sheet thru the machine...

Welcome to the Pathfinder Club and the Buck Knives Forum, Ole Joe (Leon)! The wear on the sheath shows that it performed its duty of protecting the knife.

Could be? The punches have a mechanism that comes down and holds the leather so it can be punched out without wrinkles or movement, I believe this what it is and works as an accent also. There would have to be another process to create that otherwise...IMHO...

I just noticed it looks like it's the stitching score...

I agree about the early sheaths though. I think they changed how the pieces were stamped out....

Here are a few stag 105's. Color and size variations are all over the place. One is a little too skinny, one is a little too fat, and 2 are just right.

Not only were your stag Pathfinders enjoyable to see, they also qualified you for membership. Welcome gedlicks! BTW, I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed - skinny or fat. :D

You're probably correct, especially considering mass production. I dabble in leatherwork and know there are tools specifically designed to add an edge line as a finishing touch. Pretty common, actually. I figured the older sheaths had more detail and then at some point, those details were dropped to save cost.

I have to scroll to view the entire photo. That is a great looking set! 121 sheath?
