Made my first Damascus billet a few weeks back.
Made this little guy from the tail end cutoff - you can see the progression from 12 layers to 36 to 108 (the last 1/2")
4" blade, 5/5" tall and 3/32" at the spine. FFG with a tiny secondary bevel



The handle is birch bark and antler
I liked the "as quenched" patina and pattern, so I didn't polish and deep etch it.

Today was my first trip to the woods for a little pre season scouting. Things look much better than last year but that's not saying much considering how last season was. It was wonderful sitting still listening to the acorns rain down. If you've never experienced it you don't know what you're missing.

I understand. We had the vent on our RV broke a couple years ago on an Oct camping trip. It was raining acorns the entire weekend and the dog barked every time one hit the camper top.

We carved pumpkins last night. First time ever with both my sons and my grandbaby. I didn't get pics but I got enough memories to smile every time I think about it.......my wife took pics so maybe she got a good one of my JK Bird and Trout Knife in action.
