The "Whatever" Thread

I ventured out in the warm weather today and was pleasantly surprised to see many hikers but no other fishermen. I didn't catch a lot but got a few pretty Rainbow Trout. Should have caught more but it took me awhile to find a fly they would bite not just nip at.
Best wishes to everyone here and their families for a wonderful 2023..........I think we all deserve it:)

When our home owners insurance went up last year I went to talk with our agent. I told him I didn't want to but needed to shop around because of the rate increase. He asked me when was the last time we updated and I told him never that I was aware of. I answered a few questions about improvements that were made and the annual premium dropped a few hundred dollars. We got our bill for flood insurance in Dec. and it had also went up dramatically. We've had one claim in over twenty years and it was only the contents of our basement. Long story short we talked with our agent again and this time the premium dropped to half of what we were paying.
Just something I thought was worth sharing. Every dollar counts in this economy!

F fishiker , I left a post in your profile, do you still have the thinner clip point Hudson Bay? Would you be willing to sell or trade for it? Appreciate it, that way you can go on your hikes with a more minimalist or lighter carry. ;)

I do have it but can't see letting it go anytime in the near future. I've been wrestling with the idea of cutting back on the overall amount of gear I own but haven't gotten to the point I'm willing to get rid of things I enjoy. It is a great piece and I will keep you in mind if I should decide to let it go.
I'm not saying I couldn't be tempted by the right trade but it would take something special:cool:

Thanks, I know you will enjoy it, and thanks for keeping me in mind. Appreciate it.

I live up North, so to speak....and in the past, my best fishing was in the coldest weather imaginable
That reminds me of a Superbowl Sunday many years ago. I took a friend fishing that morning at one of my favorite winter time locations. It was cold with the wind blowing a mix of sleet and snow. Several times I noticed Bobby laughing out loud when fighting a fish. I finally walked over and asked him what was so funny. He told me every time the wind and sleet got really bad the fish started biting.

Locally it seems like flu-B and COVID are competing for the most cases with strep right behind. I don't know how many cases of COVID I've heard about the past couple of weeks. My work buddy just got a call from his wife. Both of their daughters have the flu and one tested positive for strep.
I hope everyone is staying healthy.
Simplejack Simplejack I've dodged COVID several times so far. I tell everyone is the exact proper amount of corn and rye in my diet
