The Youtube and Video Link thread

Everyone,
This is something that was started on another forum I frequent, and I thought it was a good idea. Youtube can be such a huge resource that gathering all the cool videos into one place can't possibly be a bad idea (I know, I know, famous last words).

Try to keep the chatter down, or if you are going to chatter, then post a cool video with every post. If this works, then we could have something really cool.

I'll start.

ETA: Videos, unless there is objection, can be anything forging, grinding, knifemaking tool related. However, try not to stray too far away. Eg. "450 lb powerhammer"- Awesome. "Fitting guards"- cool. "epic knife fail LOL XD"- not so much

What kind of tempering was done on this video? i know oil, air, water and cryo. what material was this axe put into?

Normally I would not submit something of my own... but hopefully this can serve a purpose.

I tried to make some changes to a finished knife but made it worse and I ended up at a point where I KNOW many makers, ESPECIALLY NEW makers, find themselves....

----There is something wrong with your knife. Any type of "fix" is going to look as such. The only way to really fix the problem is to grit your teeth and start over.

It really sucks, but sometimes 'ya just gotta quit thinking about the time/work lost if you start over, and only accept your best.

I was in that EXACT same spot before I shot this video. :grumpy: ;) :)

Three part knife build by Walter Sorrells. Covers a lot of information. He's really built up a nice collection of videos for the would-be knifemaker.

This is a tutorial on how to make a real knife by using the stock removal method which is easier and requires fewer tools and less skill. Great for beginners. I will be using the forge to harden and temper this blade but there are alternatives.
In this half of the tutorial I show you how to make the template, cut out the profile of the knife blade, drill the holes for the handle and file the bevels for the sharp edge of the knife.
