I purchased the same set it's OK, but when I used the T-5 bit it broke when a screw was a little tight. I ordered some Wiha brand of the sizes's that I use the most.

For those who may still have problems locating this Husky Torx driver set at Home Depots - here's a identi-kit set of photos -

Screwdriver rack display :)
HuskyTorxRack.jpg

Even with the little drivers highlighted in a red circle - they are hard to see and easily "lost" in the crowd of other stuff - especially if one doesn't realize how small they are.

Close up of the drivers on the rack:

Don't be too hasty - as the one on the left with the RED swivel end-cap is actually a regular screwdriver set and NOT the Torx set.......

Extract from page 80 of the Home Depot "Tool Book" catalog Summer 2004 -

lower-mid is the Torx set - upper right is the regular screwdriver set.

Finally the HomeDepot.com Printable Page reference of the Husky Torx set

:p :D :D

I broke down and bought the Wiha set and I'm glad I did. I think it was around $30, but the quality is first rate. A lot cheaper the the headaches the el-cheapos were causing me! I might pick up a husky set. For the price, it'd be worth a try.

No Home Depot close by here, so I checked out Lowes.
For the same price they have one that looks just like
the Husky pictured. Has "Task Force" on it and holds
the 4 bits in the handle (Same sized as Husky). This
Lowes one is made out of cheap plastic and doesn't
look too strong but I'm able to keep my pocket clip
tightened with it.

Altough it is sourced in Taiwan, it falls under the Emerson Electric umbrella of products. Western Forge Division based in Colorado to be precise.

I know because I am a field rep for Emerson. Same company that produces and liscenses Ridgid power,wet/dry vacs and plumbing tools- among many others.

It is a great tool that really comes in handy with gadget collectors. We also have a precision screwdriver version.

They shouldn't be that hard to find in the Home Depot (exclusive in this form, although we make a similar version for Sears), as it is one of our top sellers and should be spread all over the store for impulse buys.

bttt....

Since there's a current thread about Torx and drivers -
many people are suggesting some where the cost of one or two bits would be the cost of this entire Husky set from Home Depot.

For the price of $5.97 - it is worth trying this set (and most people have a local Home Depot) -
it has bits fitting
T4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 15
and a full lifetime warranty - which apparently is "no quibble".

Look at the post immediately above this to see its "pedigree".

I've been using this set for some time, now. Finally broke my T6 bit on a LocTited screw about a week ago. Didn't even think about the warranty, and tossed the bit in the trash. Under $6 for the set, screw it, I went back and bought two more (and I acted like I had a brain, and gave the screw a dose of the heat gun the next time around).

Just discovered that on my $6 Husky torx set, I can pull out the plastic partition in the bit storage area with needle nosed pliers and get all the bits to fit inside the handle. Just thought I'd pass on this info...

Great find, Bro!!!
I never would have found this on my own :)
I did this to the screwdriver set and what a fine way to store the bits.

It was a peeve of mine that a bit had to be kept in the head. Made for a piercing point for whatever sack I carried it in. Never lost the bit tho, like I thought I would...

Thanks
Tom

I got one of the small tip screwdriver sets, Stanley brand, at Wal Mart. It has proven not only useful for my glasses and watch repair, but for tightening knife clips as well. I believe it was priced under 10 bucks! Very useful tool.

I know that Great Neck does majority of the Husky stuff made in Home Depot (especially for screwdrivers and knives), so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a Great Neck item rebadged.

Thanks for the tip! I went down to the Borg (Home Depot) yesterday to pick up the Husky torx set.

I saw the little Husky set right off. Wait a minute - this is a slotted/phillips set and so are all the others on the hanger! What's that empty hanger right below it? It says Husky torx set - hhmmm. Aha! I see 2 12-count display boxes on the lower shelf. Drat - slotted/phillips again. Hey! There's three more display boxes right there - not even opened! Dammit - slotted/phillips again.

Let's see if I can find someone to help me - nobody at the tool corral checkout - nobody in the next aisle - nobody in the next aisle after that - the paint guy is busy with another customer - oh well, let's go back to the tool corral. I think I'll just drag over that big orange step ladder (yeah, the one that says "Customers are not to use ladder, please ask for assistance reaching items on shelves"). Drag it over, climb up it, perch precariously on the top rung, and rifle the stuff they have in the storage shelves. Bingo! there's six more unopened 12-count display boxes of Husky screwdriver sets. Sh*t! They're all slotted/phillips sets.

So I left empty handed. Typical visit to the Borg. Well - at least I didn't have to buy a set of 64 nut driver bits just to get the single 1/4 inch bit I needed, like the last time I went there.

Ouch!

Phone ahead before making the trip -
use the Store SKU# 165355 for a stock check ...........

I found a way of getting the direct link to the HomeDepot.com page

Well, I went to another Home Depot and got the torx set. I bought the slotted/Phillips set too and pulled the insert out of the handles so they hold all four bits. Great find! Thanks for the suggestion.

It took me three trips to one Home Depot and two trips to another before I found this set. They must sell quickly, because they seem to never be in stock.
