Traditional French Fry day

I thought the bottom one was bubinga as well. It reminds me of the bubinga on my Aitor Castor.

There is more light orange streaking in Padouk - more shades of pink in Bubinga
Seems there is a lot of Variation in both woods' appearances!!
The #23 is Bubinga also!!Bubinga trapper 1.jpg

Maybe I did get it upside down :D

Whatever, one thing is certain- Opinel makes a fantastic knife using Hardwoods too

I dream of them offering a No.6 in Juniper

But if we still remain uncertain about these woods, then maybe we need to consult the real wood experts?

That Black Palm is a beauty! Serpent wood is also pretty neat.... It is named Marble wood in the States. The French use some really amazing wood!

A French knife, but for once not a regional folder! It's a "Rièze", a small hunting knife made by Jean Tanazacq. Tanazacq, who sold his works under the brand name of "Ardennlame" can be considered as the dean of the french knifemakers. He was the first one to start making hand made, high end, custom knives in the early eighties. I will post more about him later on.
