I have one of those. It's a great knife. Unfortunately, those shield-crosses are all too often not centered.
That could fix a rotated one, sure, but what I am referring to is when the hole is off-center, too close to either the blade or the spine and not on that line running down the middle, from bolster to butt. I'd have to find some kind of putty that perfectly matches ebony-wood and then drill my own hole elsewhere. You can always prise it out and re-glue if it bothers you...they aint pinned![]()
I would send in for a re-cover at that point, instead of redrilling and re-putty or re-epoxying to match the wood...That could fix a rotated one, sure, but what I am referring to is when the hole is off-center, too close to either the blade or the spine and not on that line running down the middle, from bolster to butt. I agree, but I gifted it away... ;-)I would send in for a re-cover at that point, instead of redrilling and re-putty or re-epoxying to match the wood...
Heading out for road trip first thing on Friday and along with a SOG Paratool and a Fiskars hand axe, this dear friend will be along for the ride. Colorado to Oregon in two days with the trusty N°10. Pics next week.
