Tried To Break My Ankle. . . . Not Successful. . .

Be careful, Boss! Remember, Scotch could possibly impair stability and increase injury! :)

Dang, I thought this was going to be some kind of plug for a boot knife or something. Sorry to hear you're hurt.

Damn, Jerry, that sucks. Did y'all at least catch any fish? You will need to take it easy for a while.

I sprained my ankle bad skateboarding one time. I came down on the board with my foot sideways and "snap"! Nothing broken, but my ankle literally swole up to the size of a grapefruit.

Had to use crutches for a week, icing it nightly and keeping it elevated. Took a full two months to heal. Sprained two tendons out of the three.

The bad news is that your ankle is never the same after that. It will always be more prone to sprains after that.

Well, heal quick brother. I wish you all the best at Blade.

Did you get my email by the way?

Ouch! I tore up my ankle a 2 years ago. Pain was terrible. I was dragging my foot or using a scooter for the first couple of days as I couldn't put weight on it. Swelling came on pretty quick then all the usual black/blue/green colors a day or so later. Dr referred me to a specialist. I didn't hit it off too well with him. He was not impressed with the cute pedicure I just got. Started with some drivel about sensible shoes vs sandals with heals. He seriously needs to read Men are from Mars Women are from Venus again. The polish would have smudged in sneakers! He did fit me with a brace to stabilize the ankle which with some effort I managed to stuff into my pumps for work. The brace and propping it up every so often helped with the swelling but it hurt and was hard to walk for weeks. The pain lasted a couple months. The ankle was weak after that. It was about 9 months before I was out on a trail again. Bourbon did wonders for the pain :) I think he gave me an RX for antinflammatory but I don't take pills.....I'm a terrible patient LOL.

I hope you recover quickly, that your children don't learn "Latin" too soon, and that you will be able to enjoy your favorite adult beverages with the group.

Hey Jerry, maybe next time try to just angle for fish rather than ankle for fish. ;)
Hope you heal quickly, but don't heel too quickly, and have fun at Blade.
Best wishes! :)

Thanks for the well wishes gang!

The kids did catch quite few fish, including a bunch of bluegills and a few small bass.

I've been keeping both ankle and scotch on the rocks!

Mostly the scotch!

Let's drink!

Jerry

Sweet! I'm glad your kids caught a few before the incident. Keep it iced and elevated Boss, and it'll get walkable quick. After that just baby it. You'll be right as rain in no time.

Drinking definitely helps with the pain. That's how I got through mine. Good whiskey, elevation, crutches, ice, compression socks...

God bless ya Jerry Busse. You are a rock star to me. Heal quick brother.

Im tipping up a cup for ya now. Glenmorangie cures what ails me. Maybe it'll work for you!

Sorry to hear this. Not only very painful, but takes a while to get better. And may require surgery.
Hopefully not though. Hopefully it will just heal on its own. Get well soon Mr. Busse.

Bummer there Boss... The Ol'ankle twisting is very uncomfortable there is no quick remedy... Long term consumption of alcohol seems to work;)

Ah that's no good, ankle injuries stay with you forever. Hope you heal up quick!

Sorry to hear that. Perfect time to design a tactical walking stick or staff. 😉
