Looks like Dan's basic rules of design need to be stated here.

1. Just because it can be made, does not mean it should be made.
2. If you kicked the bucket tomorrow, is that really what you want your last creation to be?
3. "No one else thought of it" is not a reason to make it. More likely they did, but were smart enough to realize it was a bad idea.
4. Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way through.
5. Never make anything that could be described as "it's an acquired bad taste".

This pocket axe is an old idea.
I believe Marbles made one for a few years back in the 50's and 60's. Of course theirs was not a flipper and was a slipjoint ... and had a knife blade ... If memory serves, the axe was intended for bone when field dressing a deer or larger.
Rough Rider makes (or made, I'm not sure if it is still in production) a version of the old Marbles "Pocket Axe".

I agree with you though. It is an impractical, unwieldy, and ugly design ... this "new" pocket axe even more so than the originals, since they left off the blade for skinning.
I can't think of a single practical use for that thing.

I think maybe the folding axe is just a for fun thing. when your a maker of any kind I think maybe you get bored with the same old stuff again and again ? if I had unlimited cash flow I would buy one just for the fun factor

Is the wrench for Inch, Metric or Whitworth fastener sizes?
If the latter someone with an old BSA or other British motorcycle might find a use for it.

On another forum, a guy from Bladetricks was confronted concerning his design choices for the XikXak. All we got was a bunch of "If you have to ask, you don't get it." and a lot of backpedaling. I'd totally IWB carry that push dagger, though.

Let's try to stick to the topic of the thread - knives we think are ugly - rather than derailing it by defending choices one doesn't think are ugly. I mean, if there was a "What's your favorite Spyderco?" thread, and someone came in saying one of the choices was ugly...that would pretty clearly be trolling.

Anyway, on subject, a few random monstrosities that were at the top if my "Ugly Knives" album....

So many ugly knives...so little time...
