Utility Fighter Appreciation Thread

That is a particularly nice set of rag micarta. Jo and I are sitting out on the deck enjoying a lovely afternoon and I had just commented to her about them.

I'm going to stop using the material because it is challenging to work with and it has an unacceptably high scrap rate, but it is pretty cool looking

An OG and very old school. Feel fortunate to have gotten the 1st dibs back on this UF:

Damn that's pretty Casinostocks Casinostocks . I didn't realize Elmax was part of the OG run, maybe I should write off finding one of those..

When I researched this subject a while back, I discovered that Nathan had made a dozen or so UFs in Elmax circa 2014. In fact most of the UFs made in Elmax were "satin" finished with fancy scales and there were a few which were even the original dagger grind (not to confuse with the DEF grind). I used to own one of those beauties which came from one of our friends who had attended the 2017 Blade Show, but I in hindsight I foolishly traded it:

I had never seen an Elmax UF with a tumbled finish till OI came across this one from Bob. B. Looking at its condition, it has changed hands quite a few times with me being its owner twice! At some point if Jo gives me the green light and Nathan doesn't protest with screams, I may send it back to the Mothership for a refinish.

My new ECAM scales for my UF came in! Here are some photos of them with the black fasteners and the blued Titanium. I like the black fasteners better, but the blued look nice as well. What do yall think?

That black is perfect with the edge-cut-antique handles. The blue fasteners look classiest (to my eye) on double black buffed. I appreciate that Nathan is offering titanium fasteners now. I'm sure it's extra work just to look a little different. Little personalizations are appreciated.

I wouldn't say no to some "plain" polished 18/8 screws though. Maybe I can off the shelf something from McMaster.

My plain silver fasteners are not very good looking. I will sand and polish them up one of these days. But I like the black better with the ECAM scales anyway.
