What Buck are you carrying today?

I’ve had this one with me today. I had to freshen the edge up after letting a coworker borrow it. He used a steel table as a cutting board to cut cardboard on. Lesson learned I guess. 🙄

Bummer to hear that pat9198 pat9198 . That's worse than the neighbor who borrows your weed eater and brings it back out of gas and cutting line. The guy should be written up at work and docked a day's pay for doing that to the Elk Custom Shop.

At least the 420HC steel was a breeze to fix. He’s a great guy that takes care of the machines and tools well, so I didn’t imagine he would do something like that. But like Zornhau Zornhau said earlier, I’ll never loan to a person that doesn’t carry a knife again.

In my experience of one, not necessarily a guarantee either.

Back in the Jurassic, had another "knife guy" in my squadron, he wanted to check out my Cold Steel Recon Tanto (the first one). I allowed him to take it for a weekend so he could see if he would like it and pick one up for himself. He dulled the edge a bit and offed to sharpen it for me, I told him no, I'd just handle it my self next time I did some sharpening.

Well, he got drunk and figured he do me a favor, he put it into his lanskythingamajigeroo. Used the wrong angle. Kept grinding away 'cause it wasn't getting sharper. Got tired, fell asleep, next morning he saw what he'd done and was all "aw crap". Partially reprofiled the blade edge.

On the plus side, he gave me the money he'd set aside for his purchase, so I could replace it if I couldn't get the edge right. On the negative, when I went looking, they had all sold and I couldn't find a replacement.

That was the last time I've loaned a knife. 😐

KathyJo's Dad always said "Got my Pants On".. Right after I bought the BCCI's 301 in BG-42 (first Buck Slippie) our drummer asked if I had a knife..of course I did! But when I looked over 5 minutes later he was sawing thru some fairly heavy copper wire with it. I learned MY lesson that day.
I'm carrying one of my fancy 112's but just cutting some Brie for my cracker..20250519_172407.jpg
