What did you rehang today?

Here's a few of the finished axe. Inside pictures so they still don't show the grain as much as I'd like. This ash really soaked up the blo!View attachment 1085033 View attachment 1085034 View attachment 1085035 View attachment 1085036 View attachment 1085037I'll stop bogarting the page now. Haha. I'm off to make a mask for it. Have a great night all!

I would pick that one up from the rack before others to use. Nice work on that handle - different investment than buying one.

This was a handle I found at the flea market. It is a NOS 100% heartwood handle. Sticker was orange and was a “king..... something”. Also said “flame hardened”. Leaf spring grain, no run out super thin with a big swell! I still need to do some file work on the head where someone beat on it but I am super happy with the hang! Thanks for looking!!

That is a sweet combo. Doesn't get much better than that! Looks like a perfect hang too! That db is in great shape. Westerns are my favorite db bit pattern. That a 36" haft?

I agree yankee, westerns for sure! And no it is around 32.5”. I’m about 6,4” so it should swing well. I just need to get out in the woods haha. Thanks I appreciate it!
Wow just when i thought it couldn't get any better... that is PERFECT! I don't know about you but it's real hard for me to pick a favorite axe. It's usually the one I've just hung.
I've got a KP western db on a 36" white ash haft. I wish now i had waited for a shorter handle. I'll probably switch it out one of these days. Yours has such nice patina. I purchased mine all shiny. I may force a patina on it.

Vaughn Super Steel Timber Cruiser
2.7lb. Head
3.25lbs total weight
27.5" total length
Vintage Green Arrow replacement handle

Miller, both those are great! That Vaughn cruiser is especially nice.

Thanks AgentH
The handle is probably as old as I am, and I wanted to keep the handwritten price and name stamp.
-My grandfather had a hardware store he built and opened in 1948...so he would have something to do when he retired he always told me.
These last handles were tucked away and I found them the late summer of 2017

I only file sharpened the axe, dbl cut and a mill file.

I did file and hone it... couldn't help myself. I'm probably going to keep it till I'm dead and i can't stand to look at a dull axe that long. Rehung it yesterday without the steel cap wedge. I have it set aside and marked as it might be original.

And one of the tool on it. The "swellsaver". I'll have to patent it! Hahaha. Yeah right, after i posted images for the world to see. Lol.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Edit; i wanted to add that as you can see, in the photo of the eye that, a previous owner clamped this in a vice with no wood... left vice marks top and bottom. So i wasn't too worried about marking it up a tad by cutting and then sanding it flush. If it had been pristine I obviously would have gone another route.

That is a beauty axe, and a quality hang. I think a DB TT needs to be in everyone’s collection.

What a beauty. The hang is fantastic. I would take that to my grave as well!

This is a nice small boy's axe size fire axe on a 26" handle.

I love truck fire axes. The hatchet sized guys are belts, these are trucks, and obviously full sized ones are full size.

They're all the benefits of a boy's axe with the weight and utility of a fire axe
