What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I have an old Barlow that I know nothing about...

No tang stamps or anything? When I was a kid, just about every hardware, feed store, 5&10, etc., had a display of Barlows close to the cash register. Usually the cheaper Imperials, and such. Just about everybody around here carried one.

I'll have to check it out tonight after work...I've had it for over 30 years but never really noticed any markings.

Added another nice old barlow this past week, a Case Tested 1920 to 1940. Love the swedge pile side of main. Case Tested barlows seem to be getting tougher to find in decent condition.
