Back home from the summer cottage, still some vacation left. I feel I was not underequipped with these, all of those saw use Nessmuk is still a shining example of good allround blade, not really great at anything but very good in everything. It slices well, it batons if needed, it can do light chopping, it carves wood well enough. Elver is a great carver and batons also great for it's size but does not slice soft materials too good. Tops is not a trad knife, it loses to Elver in carving but slices better, the handle is too thin for heavy work. Peasant slices out of it's size and does light wood carving also and it is easy to carry in a long side pocket.
The use of "vihta" or "vasta" is a peculiar form of Finnish s&m, you cut a bunch of birch twigs, tie them together, go to a hot sauna and beat yourself with the vasta. It is supposed to be good for the skin and blood circulation.
#54 in linen micarta The Wenger Handyman does not often get pictured in this thread, but it is always in my left front pocket. And the pitted but scary sharp pre-70 Peanut with the wonderful Case redbone is always in that little pocket made for guitar picks.
