USAKnifemaker...which seems to be having some issues at the moment.

Hi all.
I'm very new to knife making, and learning alot. Id just like to say to all of you that this thread has entertained and enlightened me for over a week. Of all the things I've done, knife making is the most enjoyable way to spend my down time, and knowing it has an amazing community as shown in here, and the incredible pieces of art displayed, is inspiring. Thankyou. This is the best and probably oldest living thread on the internet.

In line with the thread, on my bench is a 1084 tomahawk I'm trying out, a dirk, a santoku I'm making from 15n20 for mothers day in 2 weeks, a kiridashi I just started, and a mess
Will post pics if I make something worthy of this thread. Thanks again for filling my week

Welcome Dan Crowe. Fill out your profile so we know where you live and a bit about you.

One piece of advice for new knifemakers is not to try different styles all at once. Perfect a basic knife and then branch into other styles and items. However, your four choices are all doable by a newer maker, so enjoy the process.

Feel free to post a thread in Shop Talk about your projects and equipment. You may get some good advice from experienced makers and offers for shop visits and materials.

where can I get some titanium corby bolts?

I have used screws from them before (mainly for custom 1911's) and they are top notch, unfortunately they do not make corby bolts.

I'm thinking I'll just make some ti Loveless bolts when I need something like that.
I have a feeling that niche precision hardware is going to be harder to come by in the near future, so I'll be keepin my ear to the ground for deals and such.

Looks like USAKnifemaker has all sizes in Titanium back in stock. Micro, X-Small, Small, Medium and Large.

They also have some of the BEST solid carbide counterbores I have ever used.

Grids are my new favourite thing, makes it super easy to make things symmetrical. In this case, I had to widen the swedge a little bit near the spine (right picture)
