What's that you're eating?

Heh, we had salmon but it was a little less...fresh... than what you people posted.

The wife will only eat salmon if it's breaded and fried (or baked, in this case). I prefer it roasted with a miso glaze. The oldest kid loves salmon whichever way she can get it, but it's hard for her to pass on anything crunchy she can dip in ketchup. Sacrilege, I know. So we compromised:

Also made a double batch of these seasoned oyster crackers. Oyster crackers mixed with oil, dry ranch dressing mix, lemon pepper, and dried dill. They stay surprisingly crisp despite the oil. Growing up, these were a coveted snack as my mom only made them for special occasions and my siblings/cousins would fight over them. Now I get to make them whenever I want. They're a perfect snack to pair with a cold beer.

Did anyone else grow up eating these?

Had dinner with some friends in Philadelphia, at a restaurant called Kalaya. This is the best Thai food I've ever had!

Duck laab salad, whole steamed branzino in lime sauce, crab curry, chicken curry with turmeric rice, goat and lamb curry, grilled cabbage, mustard greens, pork belly, and various accouterments.

That presentation is gorgeous. Particularly the fish. I'll have to add that to my list of places to go to next time I'm in Philadelphia.

Today was a lobster roll today. I've eaten my fair share (and then some) all over New England, but the InishShor may be among the best. The lobster was cooked to perfection and was very sweet. Their fries were great. The biggest surpise was the clam strips I ordered. They were awesome.

Yes, my gram made them on special occasions, especially when we caught fresh salmon, it brings back so many memories of the good times eating back then. Ate them like popcorn👍

Nothing can duplicate the smell and taste of the old stove, her old cast iron cooking pans, real bacon grease, mixed with a cut potato, my gramps cutting pork belly at the kitchen table, all old fashioned and simple , but so delicious, and all you could eat!!

It’s a smell and taste I will NEVER forget , nor can replicate. However just talking about it just makes me drool 👍❤️

Thank you brother for the memories 🍻
