An Esee 6 in vanadis4e would make my hart run faster for sure!

That's a nice blade for sure! I may wanna try something like that next. Maybe made of Vanax to make it stainless. Only thing, when milling everything, the blade would be difficult.. But I am always up to a challenge :D

Izula II, F1, Buck 124 and if I’m going to include choppers/machetes, the Junglas and a Condor K&T El Salvador. Those 5 cover all my needs.

I am looking to make 2 knives of a piece of Vanadis 4e. I got one design ready, but need inspiration for the other. I have 5,2*50*240mm to work with, and want to make a good outdoor knife to bring when hiking and spending time in nature in general.

I am a toolmaker, and have worked as such for 20+ years. Doing a lot of designing, prototyping and CNC, and am looking for some ideas for a design.

I assume we're talking fixed blades....

I don't always carry a fixed blade in the woods but when I do, it's most often an old Schrade-Walden H-15 that I've reprofiled into more a Kephart shaped spear point. The blade is about 5" long, only 0.1" thick and has a slight convex shoulder mid height that helps split kindling better than a FFG knife.

Maybe I should try that. I am fortunate to be able to play with these steels and to have free access to CNC-machines. And I always want to challenge my craftmanship!
It'd be awesome to follow the steps you make. Will you post pics of the process?

Thanks, I will. I need to figure out how to put them in the threads here, I failed for some reason. Do I need to be a paid member to post pictures? I am only doing this for fun, and will make knives for gifts and to use myself.

You can see my work on my instagram, I have been making special guitar picks, starting without playing guitar or knowing much about picks. Got my craftmanship and willingness to learn. Last picks I made were for Gary Holt of Exodus and Slayer, which obviously were amazing! He's such a cool dude and into knives as well. Gonna make him a good blade for the next time I see him, and want to make something really useful.

My instagram is this one, but I will figure out how to put pics here as well. https://www.instagram.com/morgan__picks/

The easiest way to post pictures is to use an image hosting service. (I use imgur; but there are several options used by others.)
Upload your photos to that site, copy the link, (come to your post here) click the image icon to the right of the smiley. In the box that appears, paste the link (should be a .jpg extension).

It worked! It's a knife this style I will make first. This is a early iteration, I've changes the scales a bit, as well as made other changes. Just wanted to test if it worked.

The Esee knives are awesome! Think I'll try to make a Esee 5'ish blade with the remaining piece, could be like 238 long, so a bit shorter than the original.

I want experience before making my very own designs.. This one is awesome!

Just made an attemt to make something Esee like, I think I like the overall shape. Scales needs some attention, and there's some detail work, but pretty decent as a baseline. I think I may go with these 2 designs as a start, and see what I learn from that. Probably a lot, I have no idea what I am getting into:D

Awesome to see.
Love the 5... It's brutal.

You may want to shoot Jeff Randal a message ... Not to get in trouble using his design.
Love how you incorporated a sharpening choil in your drawing, I added one to my 5 some years ago.

Fallkniven A1 or the S1 and a ESEE 6 are 2 of my favorites. Also my camp tramp is right up there but doesn’t do food prep that good in camp.

For me, my BK14 Becker Necker tends to get used the most around camp. It’s so light and convenient to carry around my neck.

My "outdoor" knife is a Benchmade 162 Bushcraft. I like the knife but, I'm not sure that I would purchase it again. I am finding that something with a full flat grind is more to my liking.

The handle from the 162 is very comfortable once you get used to the forward grip. Combine that grip with a full flat grind drop point blade and you would have an amazing camp knife for food prep.
