Whine & Cheese and SETWNDFFAFFUG (or SuperEx for short)

We have needed this sort of 'restricted' forum ever since the software upgrade didn't allow W & C to be password protected any longer.

I don't know if two different forums are needed, and I think if W & C was restricted, and this 'super ex' forum eliminated, it would be a good thing.

As I have stated to Ira, we need someplace we can vent, swear, act nasty, and post the occasional nasty pic if we so desire, without any repricussions from the 'politically correct knuckle dragging oxygen wasting' crowd.

The forum needs explicit entrance language; people don't seem to 'get it' and get their panties in a wad when they come in here (W & C), and that bull&#115hit needs to stop. If you enter here, you may be exposed to swearing, nudity, violence, ect., so don't bitch about it, because you have been warned. You don't like that stuff, stay the hell out! Yada, yada, yada.

Thats just my opinion; I could be wrong.

Mike (Turber), maybe that's because your tendency to ignore not only common sense but basic logic dictates that you must jump in constantly, never shutting up until you are addressed.

Second, since I have class, I'm not going to mention the other part of the conversation you had, the part about you getting to feel the consequences of your actions should they continue.

So again, sober up and let the other forumites speak, should they choose.

I have an opinion, in fact, several...

The first being that you two wiseass character's should both lighten up a bit. To the casual observer (that would be me), you're both in violent agreement...whether you realize it or not.

The second being, W&C should be a members only forum, negating the need for the 'Super whatevrthephuckyoucallit' forum. Yes, it was/is 'cute', but this site is/should be about knives.

The 'net has porn sites aplenty...we don't need yet another one.

A place to vent? Sure, you betcha...I/we have lots of 'nasties' to say towards/about ourselves and others, but it should be back room 'stuff'. If a person wants to play hard, $30 isn't that much to ask.

Now, if you can't/won't make W&C a members only forum, then keep the other.

In the mean time, while you're working out the logistics, kindly have a nice hot cup of STFU on me!

Well, you asked, and that's my read.

Also, this is my homepage, has been for a while now, and I support BFC as best I can...but this site is about our knife collecting hobby, and the usage of the tools that those knives are...everything else is just so much BS.

I am and will continue to be a paying member of this forum whatever Spark decides to do. There is so much valuable information that runs through here each day, and I look forward to seeing new posts in General, W&C, Community, to the Exchange forum. The SuperEx forum has been getting quite a bit of attention lately. Sure there are a few pics posted in there, hell I have posted a few myself. We are cutting up, and having fun, and it is confined to this one forum, and not where everyone else can see, just ADULTS. I think that W&C is good for all of us to hang out and talk trash, and be laid back, but SUPEREX is the EXTREME forum, and if you are easily offended then "STAY THE PHUCK OUT"!

Bladeforums is not "going to hell in a handbasket" in my opinion. I do think that we should keep W&C for all of us to vent, and the SuperEx for the EXTREME, but if some people can't handle the extreme trash talking, dirty joke telling, and occasional nudie picture posting, then don't come in.

I am curious to see what everyone else thinks about this issue.

Don't care much either way. I did miss the folks I had been reading when they disappeared for a week.

I haven't gone back through these topics, but I think there was just some steam being let out after the events last week.

Making W&C restricted access and dumping this one seems easy enough.

The reason to keep both is so basic members still have access to W&C.
There's no sense in pissing them off, they might pay up in the future, or they may already be paying customers of 1SKS.

I have a question for Mike Turber. At W&C, you posted a picture of three naked women on a couch (Fat people bite me thread). What have the Ultrageniuses posted that is more far out? Where do you draw the line about what's too far out?

I have been coming to this forum for some time now. It is my homepage at home and on my work computer. I love knives and Bladeforums has been an incredable source of info for me. I have met some great people here and hope to meet more. I do not post all that much, as I do not feel that I am as qualified as others to answer some of the questions asked. The longer I stay here though, the more I seem to post. Maybe that is because I am feeling like I have more to offer as the years go by here. So on that note, my feeling is do whatever will please the most people that hang here. I for one am not offended by the sight of nekkid women or men for that matter. That is NOT why I come here, I come here for the knife content, but I am not going to run away with my eyes covered because I saw some hot bootie shots. Hell, I like the occasional distraction as much as any guy. So Spark, you do what you feel you need to do to please the masses and I will be with you there. I just hope that everyone will let the dust settle and see what happens here. Good luck.

A number of people are evidently enjoying the new forum, including the humorous images. Only two people have complained -- but it's not just a matter of counting noses; both Wolfmann and Mike Turber are well liked around here, and besides, Wolfmann discovered a problem we hadn't anticipated.

Wolfmann has been letting his kid log on as him. Normally I would consider that a pretty stoopid thing to do, but apparently the kid hasn't been posting messages as Wolfmann, so what's the harm, why not ... until suddenly the kid comes across some humorous pictures of a kind that many of us don't particularly want our kids to come across. Of course he could have found pictures like that and worse on the net if he went looking for them, but he didn't go looking for them, he just came across them, right here at Bladeforums....

Well, now he knows about this forum Wolfmann can log out before he lets the kid use his computer -- but what if other premium members are letting their kids log on as them too? Never occurred to me before, but it could be that other members are doing that, trusting their kids not to post as them.

The ideal solution would be to make this a password-protected forum like the original Whine & Cheese, but that doesn't seem to be possible with vBulletin, and vBulletin offers numerous advantages over our old UBB software.

Members can set their browsers to accept only session cookies from Bladeforums so they would be logged out automatically when they end the session, but getting the word out to everybody....

The logout button is not very visible. Could we put a logout button on every page? If we can do that, and post an all-forums bulletin explaining, I think that'd help.

Another way would be to change the software setup to eliminate the option of persistent cookies, but having to log in every time we visit Bladeforums would annoy a lot of people (might not be possible, too).

I think that this forum was necessary at the beginning, ,because some of us needed to blow off some steam, and get some things (pics?) out of our systems. I had the feeling that this forum would likely die out as people lost interest, and the pirate girl pics became a yawn.

There doesnt <i>need</i> to be this type of forum here at all, we dont need this and we dont need W&C. But what about what we <i>want</i>? Spark is always ready to shift things, add things and dump things based on the feedback he gets.

Personally, I want a Members Only Forum. It's good for bu$iness and it's good for morale. I dont care if it's SuperEx or W&C.

We dont need either one, but it's nice. The newness of SuperEx will wear off, and we'll find a niche there, and everyone will stop being so "in your face".

Pick one, make it members only, and let's move on.

For the record I was not drunk last night as my posts should be a clear indicator of my mental apptitude.

As for the pic I posted in W&C....

It was a "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" pic. It was not directed at fat people and if fat people took offense then I am sorry. Actually I am not that sorry as I am fat. Kinda like those fat ****ers who fly on planes and bitch if their ass takes up two seats. If you take up the room of two people then pay for two people. If you sit next to me and your fat ass is hanging on my leg I may take offense to that. Do you bitch when you have to order 2 or more Big Macs to fill your stomach up? Then don't bitch about the airlines.

Anyway I love the idea of a password protected forum. That is cool. I am not coming in here just to bitch either. That is not my syle.

first off, i really want to say thanks for the open mind you have used so far in even allowing this forum to exist.

i agree with a few things that have been said already. this forum aint necessary (neither is W&C). but, i think it is great that they exist. i also think that once the novelty of this place wears off a little it will tame down some. people are stretching their legs a little bit...(ok, a lot ). a forum like this, by its nature is going to draw heat. there will always be a couple of people that will be drawed here just to preach their morality to someone else. there are places on BFC that i have no use for, 'political' is one, because i just aint interested in the cerebral bantering that goes on there. so, you know what? i just stay out of there. i dont lose sleep wondering what they're doing in there at any given moment either.
so, i guess what i want is for W&C to either be password protected (would've happened already if possible) or make it the members only forum or keep this place for those of us big boys (and Danelle) who know how to change the frikken channel when/if we get offended by the content.
since you've gotta stand on a bucket and look through the knothole to see into this backyard dont cry about what you see. if you are crying about it please accept this finger poke to your eye.

so, once again Spark, if this place gets shot down in flames, thank-you again for allowing its oppertunity.

Spark, I gotta hand it to you for not just acting out of some impulse or emotion. Thanks for letting us discuss this.

In my mind, there should be a members only forum. Call it what you will, it’s a nice perk. This place is like having friends over to your house when the kids are at their grandparents. You don’t have to keep quiet or worry about what your kids will hear.

By keeping both, there is the chance that the basic members who get comfortable in W&C might pay to be a “Pirate”. I don’t know, just a thought. I kinda figure the porn will die down when the newness wears off.

If my voice matters, keep a members only no holds barred forum.

Let's not lose-sight of the fact that BladeForums IS a "knife-forum", and I believe that it should stay that way, without a bunch of "junk-talk"/porno-pictures forums.
