What knife would you like to see next from CPK?

A bowie/camp knife would be cool as long as it's not too thick/heavy. I would love a knife that is light in the hand and balanced like a fighter, not a chopper. To me, the bowie would be completely different in feel from the Light Chopper. Many of the "bowies" on the market just don't have the right balance.

Delta 3v, 8-9" blade, functional single or double guard. A guy can dream...

Thanks for asking for input!

I would like to see a knife very similar to a fallkniven volcano! I have this knife, and its probably my favorite outdoor blade I've ever used. I would love to see something like this from carothers in 3v!!

Rodriguez, the Volcano is certainly a beautiful looking knife with exquisite F&F which is presented in a fancy box and some really heavy duty leather sheath. I have never owned this knife but I have owned A1, S1 and F1 all with VG10 but not the fancier Pro series with the the CoS. Just out of sheer boredom in between some online work, a question and a few comments:

I know that you are a hunter, so what makes the Volcano your current fave with that sweep up curvature tip? Also, I am not a big fan of convex grinds although I definitely see their advantage when a lot of batoning and wood splitting comes into play in places like Sweden and those Scandinavian landscape type of places. I was not a big fan of VG10 with a convex grind so I let go of all my Fallkies although I was quite fond of that A1 because of the ergos and its size (didn't like the F1 at all!).

I know that if Nathan makes and retails a $500+ semi custom type production knife, he is really giving us something like a $700 or more blade in comparison and not just in terms of tight supplies and their high demand. I don't know how thick the Volcano is at the stock but one of the reasons I didn't continue my infatuation with their Pro series was their ridiculously thicker spine as compared to their normal VG10 counterpart. This is pretty much the same reason as to why I have not looked too seriously into some other makers who go with 1/4 thickness. The reason I love Nathan's work is because the darn things cut, which is what a high caliber knife must be able to do efficiently and effortlessly, first and foremost. Next, it must be able to carve a Hummer into two pieces :D

Casino, I'm not to sure, I really like the sweep, it's a good skinning design. But I have always loved that blade shape. It lends to a lot of different uses, and looks really good too. As far as the thickness and convex grind. It's 7mm thick spine, but is plenty thin at the edge, the convex edge cuts very well, yet it has enough meat above the edge for good durability. I have nothing but good to say about this edge geometry. It batons much better than a flat ground blade. The only thing you could say negative about it is probably slicing vegetables. It will probably split them instead. But that's the least of my concern. It's designed more inline with a butchers knife.

Thank you Rodriguez. In my meandering way, I was trying to ask if that sweeping tip up style was more conducive to skinning game for a hunter. As for splitting, we both agree that a well done convex grind is optimal for that purpose.

It does skin better, for instance on elk! You have a lot more hide to work on a bigger animal. I would like to try this blade on a beef. On something like a rabbit or goat, maybe a smaller drop point blade with a decent swept tip. The main thing about that volcano design, is to me it's a multi purpose blade. Good steel , good grind, can chop well, and do basic camp tasks really well. Yet if I down an elk, it'll hold up through the entire quartering process. Then I can go back to camp, chop wood, batonn, whatever I need, and cook some fresh back straps over the fire! And I don't have to carry another knife. Just this one!

Not exactly a knife as in something under 12 " but I would love to see a ginunting :)

Love my Field knife, would like to see a heavy duty version or something along those lines :D:D

What do you mean by heavy duty? The field knife is pretty thick and hella strong. I don't see a performance knife being thicker in that size.

I would to see a LFK - a light field knife that's a slicer. If the chopper had a light version, why not a lighter version of the FK?
