Photos A Walk in Nature

It was a heck of a trip for us . We were there for a month and we went to all four coasts and even rode the train from Perth back to Sydney and made some wonderful friends .

Harry
You were there a long time, my in-laws were there for two weeks and said that they wished they could have stayed longer.

There must be a law somewhere about you having Too Much Fun my friend . I certainly enjoy your's and everyone else's post in this thread .
We have had a lot of fun on our 45th Anniversary in 2005 , but we just can not do stuff like this anymore .

Thank you Harry ! :)
I am happy you are enjoying our little adventures and the ones other folks share here :)

Very nice photos my friend
Just yesterday my 14 yo daughter asked me if I could travel to any place in the world, which one would I pick and why ?
I said " Australia" as I was always fascinated by it's animals and birds and the landscapes that can range from deserts to tropical forests.
She picked India for it's ancients arts and cultures.

Perhaps one day we'll visit them :)

Looked like an awesome trip Harry. I bet you won’t soon forget that one!

I am making preparations today for a five day, 65 km solo navigation of the Rideau Canal through the heart of it's most picturesque and scenic portion
( Friday till Tuesday )

Needless to say I still totally rely on the ladies of the home as they are helping me big time in preparing/packing the food and camp supplies that I will take and making sure I do not forget anything :)

The plan is for them to drop me at a public boat ramp on Seeley's bay ( Maserin Plow tip on the map below ).

From there I'll navigate about 8 km to Jones Falls Lock and camp.
"Esperanza" settles on a very comfortable cruising speed of about 8 km/hr. with it's tiny 2 hp outboard purring at low rpm so it will take about an hour to get there on Friday.

Saturday I'll navigate 11 km to Chaffeys Lock ( after going trough Davis Lock halfway ) and camp ( GEC # 15 cocobolo boys knife points the way :) )

Sunday I should be able to make it to Newboro ( 8 km ) ( Gec 62 blade tip )
This lock is the high point of the system where the water flow changes direction ( down to Kingston and the Saint Lawrence river and down to Ottawa and the Ottawa river )

On Monday I'll keep going ( 14 km) and camp at Colonel By Island ( BF 2020 knife )

Tuesday I'll finish the trip by navigating 24 km to Poonamalie Lock where my ladies will be waiting to pick up my tired body and drive me home LOL :)

A good portion of this route is "out in the boonies" lol and cell reception is not reliable at all.

I still hope to be able to share a few pics of my progress along the way.

Thanks Todd :)
I am looking forward to it.
A chance to experience a bit of relative solitude and reflect on things.
Hoping I recharge my mental batteries a bit out in nature.
Have fun Dan! Looking forward to seeing your photos of the trip. If you start hearing banjos, steer to the middle of the canal

Gracias Mike ! :)
LOL 😁 I'll make sure to steer to the middle if that happens, ... now I can not get this tune out of my head 🪕 .. thanks buddy 😂
