Good point, Brett! I use an old fashion Hutsuls leather strop with white compound on the rough side, green on the smooth side. Just a few strops before and after daily use brings it back to sliding easily through paper without catching. I‘m new at proper blade maintenance but coming along fine!In the little use ive had with the steel, what i can say about it is that its very responsive to stropping. On par with rex45 or dare i say maybe hitting close to s35vn territory. Mind you not an expert at all.
I have the PM2 in 15v.Wondering how this steel is performing in the wild but can't seem to find info, anyone have thoughts to share?
Same experience I hadI have the PM2 in 15v.
I cut 850 feet of cardboard with it to see how it would hold up.
The factory edge chipped out along the secondary bevel.
one large chip back by the ricasso below.
The same issue with some Spyderco blades in Maxamet.
I plan to sharpen it out...
Will post additional pictures when repaired \ re-profiled.
My Maxamet knife eventually stopped chipping, it took a lot of sharpening.
I picked up a second PM2 in 15v BNIB (hopefully better luck)
I can only speak for myself, but it's not because of the steel alone. It's because of the BBB heat treat protocol. Personally, would have preferred cpm 4v with a BBB heat treat. Can anyone explain why all the excitement over this steel when S110V and Maxamet have been out for years as production runs?
15vOn the 15v or the Maxamet?

Added 2 pictures... (magic marker sections of blade)

planning to sharpen out the factory
till staple will not roll and chip edge.

The damage will sharpen out..
Then the blade should be outstanding.
Nice job sharpening. I enjoy 15v, Maxamet and M4 on recent purchases. Haven’t needed to do more than stropping with my ultra light use. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have become very fond of high ht tool steel! As expected the damaged edge sharpened right back up...
Maxamet was a lot more difficult to "break in"
The 15v edge cleaned up quickly and was easy to refine the burr.

Heat treatment. And what was his contribution?
He developed the HT protocol that Spyderco used for these 15V knives. And what was his contribution?
