Yes you can send in the knife and get a blade replacement for a small fee.
Thanks, Jimmy!
I have a separate question. Will Benchmade warranty be voided if I change the hardware on my 940 ?
I have never even owned a knife that I have paid more than 25$ for.
I've been doing fairly well the last couple of years and I have decided to treat myself to some nicer knives. I have purchased the BM 551-1 from one of the larger internet based dealers (not sure if naming them would be appropriate, or allowed) however, the reason I am here is to have some better, more experienced eyes on it to see if I got the real thing. The only concern I have is the blade steel marking (20CV) I don't see the blade marking like this on any other 551-1 I can find on Youtube.
If anyone could have a look I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.

That looks real to me, the color of the anodizing on the back spacers and the logo look OK, also they did make that model in 20cv steel.
I have also never seen a counterfeit of that model.
I believe it's legitimate from the photos.I purchased this because of the anodized back spacers, the g-10 scales and the upgraded blade steel.
However, on all of the videos I have watched the blade steel stamping reads "CPM-20CV" and that is imprinted under the thumb stud, but this one reads "20CV" and it is behind the thumb stud. BM's site only has one picture of this, and it is of the butterfly logo side of the blade. So I can't compare it there. the box does show a date of 10/31/18 on it. So perhaps this is a really new revision of the imprint?
Also, I appreciate your response. Thank you
Wasn't sure if it was protocol to leave vendor names out or what have you. But I made the purchase at Blade HQ.
Appreciate the responses from everyone.
Thank you
Happy to hear it.
Thanks
Go watch some of their YouTube videos, like the knife addict one. Pretty funny.
Call them if you have questions about your blade.
Greetings!
I recently purchased a Benchmade 761 Ti Monolock from the Peterson AFB, CO AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service). It’s the fourth one I’ve purchased from AAFES; three in-store and one online. The one online is the 761. I’m trying to verify that the online one is an authentic Benchmade. I emailed Benchmade but they said I would have to send it to them. There has to be another way to authenticate it w/o having to send it in; plus I don’t think AAFES would sell fake/clone Benchmade knives to the military. Can anyone provide some insight on this please? I’ve also attached some photos of the knife and the box it came in.
Thank you,
CJWalters
Who is the post in response to?That knife looks legit. We dropped the "CPM" a while back and just went with 20CV.
