Benchmade Fakes, knock-offs, counterfeits thread...

It does help. Thank you. I'm the buyer, then got nervous because it sold cheap. The blade is the reason I bought it. I wanted something that could be used as a scraper / prybar. Thanks again.
 
It came in the mail today. No doubt it's real now that it's in hand. Awesome knife. Thanks again, Ed

I bought a fake Benchmade this week totally by accident.

My son wanted a practice balisong for Christmas and Fasttech had one of those stupid Bali-combs (comb instead of a blade) for under $6. I bought it on my iPhone not realizing it was branded Benchmade. :thumbsdown: Benchmade on the comb and came in a shitty Benchmade box.

This product is barely worth $6 and it is stupidly obvious it isn’t a real Benchmade product, but other fakes are getting pretty good which is scary. Only authorized dealers from now on for me!

My fiance recently bought me a 940-1 for our anniversary and I'm worried it may be a fake. I emailed Benchmade but in the meantime I figured I'd post here and get everyone's take.

Everything seems to be correct except there is no Patent mark on the blade.

check where the pocket clip screws in. look on the inside. if you see grey its a fake. if its black its real. there are other signs too.

but from what i can tell it looks real.
 
My list to check is black inserts behind clip screws, clip has flare before it attaches at screws, hard ware is black but matte in sheen, bright blue standoffs, logo and blade lettering is grey. Fakes have inserts with grey or no coating, clip is very narrow all the way up, hardware is shinny black, dark and blocky standoffs, logo and lettering is black. I'm sure there are other items to look at but this is my basic list.

Well, it seems to check everything off your list so I'm leaning towards it being real!
 
Found this knife but the markings don't seem right from what I see on the benchmade site. The action is very smooth and it appears to be a very solid knife but I'm just not familiar enough with benchmade to know if it is real. Also how do I post pics to the site ... I'm on my phone currently

Essentially you goto an image hosting site or app and upload your photo to it. Then take the link and paste the link here. If you can find a direct link to the image ending in. .jpg or. .png or whatever it is, then you can embed it using the image icon on the forum toolbar.
