This is a repeat of the same question asked by the same user, Sean Price, on 06/06/2012: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...f-The-FiTTeST-END-of-The-World-SHTF-Scenarios

Title of that thread was: "Best Kukri For Survival of The FiTTeST? END of The World, SHTF Scenarios?"

There were 58 replies to that thread, so I suggest that people interested in the question read those replies, and I'm not quite sure why Sean is posting the same question again, and without telling people about the previous thread.

Here is a subset of my reply at that time:

"No khukuri will help you in a real Worst Case Scenario. That would include things like tsunamis, global famine and drought, epidemics, nuclear war, meteor striking the earth, etc. I suppose the handful of survivors, if any, might live a little longer with a good khukuri."

I enjoy post-apocalyptic stories. However, in any such situation (whether or not zombies are involved) survival would depend on so many factors other than choice of khukuri that the question tends to trivialize the problem. More important than what model khukuri you have is: How smart are you? How fit are you? Do you have outdoor experience or survival training? What kinds of companions do you have, and do you know how to work in cooperation with other people? Where are you located in relation to the worst areas affected? How lucky are you? What kinds of transportation do you have? What kind of training do you have with weapons of any kind? The list goes on and on.

At the risk of encouraging a repetitive thread, I'll add this:

If society collapses and several billion people worldwide (or several hundred million in the U.S.) are desperately seeking food, water and shelter, any khukuri is better than none, but someone with a firearm will most likely kill you and take your khukuri. Eventually everyone will run out of ammo, but most people will have starved to death before that happens, and you will have your pick of swords, knives, clubs and rocks.

yeah and we can include, in the event of collapse, there will most likely be no survivors , and those that do remain will do so by pure chance( the whim of the weather and ability of arable land to produce crops)---but but, with technology any number of society ending scenario are averted simply by the application of previously unheard of technology, the current level of advancement in genetics, cytokinetics, and physics will likely prevent any catastrophic end of world scenario or they will encourage an end so complete and non survivable that the survivors are handful and only by the dumb luck of a location that cannot be divined.
Some people think we are essentially going to be extinct perhaps in as little as 50 years. as all the climate change projections are happening at a rate 1000 times the original guesses, that many of the "worst case scenario" projections with the methane hydrate and the warming of the deep oceans is all coming to pass. if we can develop reliable fusion before the ecosystem collapses we can build greenhouses adinfinitum, and humanity continues, if we do not develop reliable fusion we can use pebble bed fission to power these same artificial biomes, all life but humanity and the life we use is already essentially doomed to total extermination, they will be preserved in our genebanks though. without fusion though, unless you are ultra rich or in the leadership of powerful nations , I doubt you can count on your bloodline surviving with this method, but humanity , even the if its some of the worst of us, does survive in this manner.
as it is boys, last one to leave get the lights. reality as always is more strange than fiction, more terrible than any nightmare you ever heard before, it is an honor to be among the last, or the first, either way the world has never been in this place before, and nobody knows for sure how it is going to play out.(others have said it, for us it is true)

Heads up: this is the THIRD time that Sean Price has posted this question in the HI forums.

In addition, a few months ago he went on a mini tirade about the perceived lack of customer service he was experiencing, expressing, "I have emailed this Yandu character so many times that i have lost count, NEVER EVER heard back"

He's likely a kid with fantasy/reality issues, lacks any modicum of respect for Yangdu, and is completely intolerable. Interact with at your own risk

Any one lacking in complete respect for Auntie is on the very bad side of me. Just sayin.

I actually had one disrespectful person (maybe same guy?) email me after I chastised him for his disrespect. Wanted to know if I was threatening him. I asked him where he lived and he was on the opposite coast so I told him no, I don't fly and it's too far to drive so no threat unless of course Auntie ask me to take him out, then I'll drive anywhere.

Aaaaaaand....Bawanna makes tea come out of my nose. LOL.
Khuk-wise I'd be very happy with my gelbu 18"-29 oz (which is the heaviest gelbu I've heard of in that size) but my "power hammer" for years was a 16" 6-1/2lb straight peen, so the weight suits me very well.

I might forget once in a while what I have read before and then ask it again, but THREE times?
Maybe in a few years with Alzheimers? More likley and scary than facing Kuks in an unlikely apocalypse. Man, now I'm upset and have to try to forget that thought. :(

I think he's a time traveler from the post apocalyptic future, and he's in some sort of Groundhog Day time loop where he keeps traveling to the past to find the perfect khukri to stop the apocalypse. Once we tell him the right one to get, the loop will collapse, the apocalypse will be averted, and we won't see him again.

I hope he gets the girl and stops the machines from killing his dad who also time traveled to save mankind.

Well I'll chalk this day up as a complete success. I'm proficient at Soda, beer, coffee is almost a forte but tea is kind of rare. Perhaps we'll call it an especially successful day.

The really funny part was when I told him I was an old man in a wheelchair with a crappy attitude, did he still feel threatened from afar.

I'm going to recommend buying 8 Kagas Katne's and holding them between your fingers like Wolverine. Or buy the world's biggest chakmak and burnish the evil robots to death.

What about toes and mouth? --> 17 Kagas Katne?
Don't say 18, that wouldn't be good taste!

Once you start putting khukris in your mouth I think you can forget about having a good taste. Unless you've treated the wooden handles with olive oil or something... actually we should commission auntie Yangdu to develop edible khukris.

I think you solved the OPs problem. :)
Eating a Chocolate Kukri will be better for immediate survival than trying your luck hunting an animal with a metal blade.

I like that idea... I was thinking hand forged, differentially tempered watter buffalo jerky (in deference to the Hindu kamis) for the blade and hard tack for the handle. Not sure what to make the sheath of
