Boker "Tree Brand Classic" & Solingen made traditional knives

I received this Expedition Barlow last week. I like how textured and grippy the micarta is, even the brass is grippy. I like it!

Excellent! Love the Expedition (my most favorite modern day Traditional).

Looks like the micarta has changed a little since I last grabbed one.

Over the last almost 3 years all of the handling, pocket time, cleaning and lube has changed my first one from an OD green to an OD brown with a smoother feel. The spares are closer to original except the even patina the brass developed.

That's interesting, now I'm curious how this micarta will change over time. Although I do like the look of the polished micarta on the copper SFOs, this is the better "feeling" micarta of the two. I'm really liking it so far!

I'm sure most peoples' will change a bit differently based on their particular use case, cleaning, lube, etc...

My oldest, most carried on the left. Newest spare on the right. Neither of the spares have seen any pocket time, and have seen limited handling, cleaning or lube. Micarta has changed slightly more brown and the brass has darkened more evenly without the wear patterning of handling. Loosing track of exactly when I bought these. Also note the directionality of the micarta.

edit - for reference, this is how my original one looked at the end of 2020 with less than a year of carry.

I have restored the texture by giving the scales a bit of a rub with coarse Scotch Brite but with very little pressure, if that makes sense.

Also, when trying to force a patina on the brass, I discovered that the vinegar & salt mixture makes the micarta threads look drier and brighter, making more contrast.

Just some ideas. I love this knife. My favorite ever, I think.
