Boker "Tree Brand Classic" & Solingen made traditional knives

Penguin. How do the made in Germany models compare? The few I have handled are nice. Not as nice, but it is the only way to get some of these patterns.
they are cheaper so we just put 'Made in Germany' on them" models. Good knives nonetheless.

It's hard to answer that. On one hand, the just don't "feel" as nice as the higher-end models, but when I look closely it's hard to find any real faults. There's no gaps, everything is tight, all nicely finished. A couple of them have soft springs on some of the blades, but I've noticed the same thing on some of the higher-end Bokers. It could just be that because I know they are cheaper, they feel cheaper. Overall, they are definately on par with Case knives. I do carry them regularly, especially the red Copperhead, and they are great users.

The lower line does have some different patterns, like the Copperhead and Razor Jack that I have, that are not available in the rest of Boker's lines. I wish that Boker would produce a wider variety of patterns than they do. I'd love to see a Peanut, or a Texas Toothpick, or maybe even a Bunny Knife. High quality items from high quality manufacturers are always appreciated.

Here's a pic of most of my other Bokers. I just realized there is a small Stockman I left out. They are not all Solingen models. The three on the right are the "Made in Germany, but we can't say Solingen because the parts come from somewhere else that we won't mention, but they are cheaper so we just put 'Made in Germany' on them" models. Good knives nonetheless.

Nice collection Mark. How’s the action on your large stockman? I have several that have great action on the main blade but lackluster action on the secondary blades.

Yep, same thing. The main is nice and snappy but the secondarys are soft. Not terrible but any means, but noticeable.

Yeah, I have four and they are all the same, so I didn’t think I got four soft ones all in different covers. 😄 I rarely use anything but the main blade anyway, but they aren’t something I carry much. Very nice knives but they probably need to find new homes.

What don't you like about the expedition?

I love my expedition Barlow, what's the Club like?

The club knife is fine, it was kinda a joke. I bought the copper because the Expedition was good and I liked the knife. Even though I didn't need to buy another knife and I want to seriously cut back on purchases this year.

Yeah, I am blowing way too much on my not-so-little collection, as well. Wife is getting angry and so are the kids, even.

All these enablers on bladeforums.com are NOT helping, either... ;-)

I really like that Coppertop version.

Copper for me as well.

Your SFO is developing a good patina.

For some reason, my SFOs are taking a lot longer to patina than my normal production run coppers.

I like all of the brass and coppers. Brass slightly more. The N690 versions slightly more than the O1. Excellent material choices by Boker IMHO.
