Boker "Tree Brand Classic" & Solingen made traditional knives

Thanks Gordon. If I HAD to pick I’d probably go with the regular production black Micarta. I like the thinner long pull and the blade tip sits a bit deeper. I’m just glad I don’t actually have to pick. 😄

Me three - I'll be letting other knives go before these if I have a choice.

I must be missing something. Those two blades look the same to me.

Your SFO is developing a good patina.

For some reason, my SFOs are taking a lot longer to patina than my normal production run coppers.

I like all of the brass and coppers. Brass slightly more. The N690 versions slightly more than the O1. Excellent material choices by Boker IMHO.
Thank you. I do plan to pickup the black micarta copper eventually, I’d like to see how the patina on the SFO and that compare in person. Yours and bigfish64 bigfish64 both look fantastic!

I need to get in on this fun! A short break in the rain, but I can hear thunder in the distance as I snap this photo. 😎👍View attachment 2118843
Beautiful pair!

They are very similar Erik. I’ll try to remember to do a better side by side pick tomorrow.

Thanks Pat. Boker hit a home run with their copper series. 😎👍

Blades are the same on mine except 1) different steel, and 2) width and depth of the pull.

Wait, is one of those the brown special edition from that big giant smokey company?

Or did you order something unique?

I'm confused.

I thought they used a common part just with a different Micarta for the scales. Interesting.

Thanks for the photos and explanation. 😃

You're welcome.

N690 on the regular production run, O1 tool steel on the SFOs.

Todd's might have other slight differences I'm not seeing on mine. Or I'm just not noticing it.

Nice photo Gordon, shows what I meant about the long pull.
In this photo you can see what I meant by the tip on both knives. The knife on the left or top is the regular production black Micarta the other one on the right or bottom is the brown SFO. You can see how much lower the blade on the black one sits, I prefer that. 1B280447-84E5-4D1F-AB4A-67E79873C804.jpeg

I wonder how much of the differences are instance specific vs model specific vs batch specific, in general.

We know the blades are different steel but one would think they'd use the same template and all.

Maybe the slightly different dimensions are deliberate and due to the characteristics of the specific metal used.

Sorry, it's the test engineer in me. 😃

Mine are close enough I hadn't noticed a difference. Took a very close look, and my SFO is very slightly higher than my black micarta.

edit - there are variations in the blade depth in the blade well on my Expedition Barlows.
