Stabilized spalted maple and burlap micarta would be my guess. But there are others with much better eyes for these things around here. Nice looking knife!

Battle Grade means it is the SR101 version. The BG Bossjack is one of my top favorites. Yours is the first one I've seen with a swedge. Awesome score man!Homerun here...I'm very pleased! I was soooo happy seeing some res-c!
Somebody tell me what the Busse battlegrade is? Awesome balanced knife....

I got my BG Boss Jack in a grab bag too, and it is also one of my very favorites. Perfectly balanced, flat ground and a nice small choil. It's about a perfect bushcraft type knife. Kinda Kephart-ish but with a little extra length that comes in handy for batoning......Much as I like res-c...that boss jack feels great in hand. I love sr101 anyhoo...

Tracking info for my TGULB that I got with the bags said it was 4 pounds... I sure wasn't.
Last Christmas, I got 2 (1k) bags, and it says 2 pounds....
Just got the tracking number for this one and it says 7 pounds.
I'm not sure if UPS knows how a scale works.
Too bad it doesn't say 17 pounds.
