Cult of the peanut , members

Thanks Ranchman !!! I've had the jigged brown delrin Peanut the longest. I purchased it in 1998 from the ship's store, while stationed aboard the USS Steven W Groves FFG-29

^^^ Outstanding pics!!! Wow! Thanks for sharing those - fantastic shots and the character it's taking on is quite apparent.:thumbup::thumbup:

Does it ride in your pocket with coins and other items or solo? My Peanut rides solo in the RFP.

All I can say is wow. This thread is awesome

I aquired a few of my great grandpas case knives a few weeks back and have been brought back to my original love for old school slipjoints. I guess a little over a week ago I decided I wanted to get a peanut and through searching online, discovered this thread. Well, Saturday night I ordered a chestnut bone peanut and have spent the last few days reading this thread start to finish to hold me off until my new best friend shows up. I should have it in my hand tomorrow around lunch time. This guy is pretty excited. If y'all will have me, I would love to become a member of the peanut cult. I feel like I already belong after spending so much time reading everyone's post but I'm hoping to make it official tomorrow.

In the mean time, here are a few examples of the closest things to peanuts that I currently have

Don't worry, membership in The Cult is made shortly after you take possession of a peanut. In the few days after you ge the peanut, you will be contacted. A large fat man in a rumpled white linen suit and a red Fez on his head will appear to you. He will escort you to a waiting yellow Checker taxi from New York city, driven my a midget who drives like a maniac. But don't worry, everyone who has been in an accident with the midget has recovered fully after proper medical care.

The yellow taxi will drive you to a secret meeting place of The Cult members in your neck of the woods. The initiation ceremony will be forthwith. Welcome to The Cult!

I have excellent health insurance so no worries about accidents. :)
I'll post pictures as soon as I get it.

The mailman came early today. This guy is happy. The bone isn't as dark as I'd like but overall. I like this little guy. It needs to be sharpened a little bit but I'll take care of that soon

Carried with me all weekend --Through St. Louis, Hannibal MO, Nauvoo IL, Indianapolis IN, and back home (1100 miles total this weekend)

That's a beauty! Very nice looking bone. It'll darken a bit over time with handling as it absorbs perspiration, etc. Enjoy your new Peanut

Beautiful 'nut!!

I actually think the bone is better a little too light than dark, dye wise. I like the way it fades to a lighter shade out toward the ends, and lets you see down into the bone texture a bit. They did a very good job on that one.:thumbup:

Bighaze51, congrats on your new Peanut; it looks SWEET!
But I'd sure be interested in a run-down on the "near peanuts" pictured above! What "make and model" are each of those? Is there a "story" behind any of them you're willing to share? Thanks! :D

Thanks guys. I'm excited that I now have my very own real deal peanut. I just sharpened it up on my lunch break and it's good to go. :)

Sure, the yellow one I've had since I was maybe 7 or 8. I think it just says Japan on it. I can't remember off hand. The black one is a kingston I founnd that belonged either to my grandmothers uncle or her grandad. Not sure. It had cracked plastic scales on it so I experimented with it a little. The new scales are actually dyed leather that I originally sealed with super glue but just refinished with true oil. It's one of my favorites. The next one is a Frontier that was in my grandfathers tackle box. He gave it to me a couple weeks ago. And the bottom one is an Imperial, I think. I found it in the same box with the Kingston. All 4 are scary sharp and cool little knives

Thanks for the additional info, sir!:thumbup:
I'm glad I asked; VERY interesting histories on those guys! :p:p
They're good-looking knives, but just from the picture, I might conclude none of them is super-special.
But after hearing the stories, I can see why you must consider them pretty much priceless!! :D:D
