Tantos are pretty useful for some things, not optimal for everything. Just get one in a powerful steel and you'll be set

If you like wharncliffes and kiridashi, you should really like an Americanized tanto.

Drop point blades are actually my favorite blade style.Don't like them---although they do look cool
Have a Mini Grip tanto----most useless knife I own.
Most everything I carry is a drop point.
