As much as I love my bigger knives, my appreciation of both mid- and smaller-sized folders has been growing lately. I've had to embrace a regular workout schedule in my semi-retirement to help keep me both healthy and on the right side of the grass, and find myself dropping a smaller folder into light pants or clipping into a pocket T when heading over to the gym we've put together upstairs from my woodshop. Some days I'll switch up to something larger or more workman-like, depending on what's on the agenda, and some days I'll just continue on with the "lesser" carry.Thank you!! We all have different needs, different habits and different tastes. There are plenty of awesome big knives around for people who enjoy them. I think what makes Jesper such a great knife designer is that he has the ability to make a knife smaller but without compromising the ergonomics and keeping it a very functional knife. I love the size of the Dapper and it amazes me how comfortable it is to hold. Have you tried the Grand? It's a bit smaller than your usual knives but I could imagine that ergos and overall feel are better than many larger knives!
Thanks My Friend !Thanks brother!!
Happy New Year all
I am out here in the Peoples Republic of California, unfortunately. Napa Valley to be exact. Wine country. About fifty miles north east of San Francisco. Beautiful country but, very, very PC.Hey brother, I have to make this quick.
For a Jeep axe, honestly I recommend a Fiskars 28". I had one, it was a great axe. I still have the Fiskars hatchet. The steel is soft, and easy to keep hair shaving sharp. They are very much tools, and not something that is beautiful to look at.
Anyway with that said, Husqvarna used to make a 28" axe that I carried in my truck for years. It sits in the gun safe now because it has sentimental value to me at this point.
I'm veering off track, but my point was this: I bought that axe for $60, and it was worth every penny.
If you have the coin, then by all means, step up to a Hultafors or a Hults Bruks. I love those axes, but my $60 Husqvarna cuts just as well (it was made by the same company, it just isn't finished nearly as nicely)
Lastly, I don't have the best skills in axe hanging, I assure you! I have messed up a lot. I have one axe that I had to hang three times to finally get "the hang of it".
Restoring axes is fun and rewarding. Axes are some of man kinds oldest known tools.
I'll try and snap a picture of a couple of my restores!
Also, what state do you live in?
Edit for pictures.
This first one was my trouble child. She would not take to a full length handle. She cut like a laser with one, though. I ended up putting her on this 17" handle. She took to it. The head is light enough for the handle. She's an amazing hatchet.
An online friend from Canada sent me this one. He cut the head and thinned the cheeks - so this one isn't a restore job for me, all I did was hang it.

This next one is bitter sweet to me. When it was given to me, it was rust over blue. Seeing the blue paint, I got excited - I thought maybe I found a Swede!
Once cleaned up, I seen the "China" stamp. I was let down.
However, and I hate to say this, but this axe is my best chopper, by far.
The heat treat is ruined, largely my fault. I couldn't get the old, hardened hickory out of the eye. I ended up losing my temper and I threw it on a fire to burn the wood out.
It gets sharp, and easily, but it won't take a fine edge, and won't hold it for long at all. But you should see the large chips she throws!!

Exact same situation with this small 21. Don’t ever carry it but can’t seem to let it go. I’ve let go of Larges that actually get carried and used but for some reason I have reservations about selling this one. Even right now carrying it thinking “it’s just a touch too small for my liking”I feel ya, I got a PJ small Inkosi (my first CRK) that I can’t seem to let go lol. Even though I rarely carry it.

Just got this 0308 in with aftermarket CF scales and it’s bringing back some good ol ZT memories
Happy New Year yall!
That would be cool! I imagine shipping would cost a small fortune!
I don’t know jack about axes.
Is there something like Axes 101?
I need to start learning somewhere.
What I do know is that I don’t want a hatchet. I am thinking a small forest axe will meet my needs. I have a Sven Saw and a D handle shovel for in my Jeep Cherokee. I just want an axe to finish out the set. Something for when I am out camping.
I envy your skills to hang an axe.
I like doing stuff with my hands and think there would be a lot of personal satisfaction in something like that.
Happy New Year.

I have considered Fiskars but I don’t want a plastic handle.
I also considered a Husqvarna
(what I want) but nobody in my area has one and now you tell me that it’s discontinued. Bummer.
Thanks. Also, if you find other brands/models that are similar in nature please let me know.I don't think it's discontinued, but I've trouble finding one lately!
I'll keep my eyes peeled for you!
Very nice. All three items are a class act.
Jazz is always good. I’ve been listening to Spyro Gyra lately.Happy New Year My Blade Brothers and Sisters !!
