EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Brought some friends to a local park with squirrels and rabbits to chase. Doggie's got an ECG for a heart murmur on Tuesday so trying to get some extra play in

But didn't know the electric company came through and killed all the grass (fire prevention)

So we headed lower to the little stream bed with more green. Squirrels stayed in their holes though

Gave me time to compare the friends. QC Waypoint L is basically the same edge length as the Millie

A lot thinner stock though and with the hollow grind it bites deep fast

And more compact closed by a lot in every direction

You were right Wowbagger Wowbagger about those little green bugs being Aphids. I found something creepy the other day... The plant outside my backdoor had little "things" all over it and on the ground under it that I thought were it dropping it's seeds. Turns out it's COMPLETELY COVERED with Aphids. In fact they're domesticated Aphids being herded and sheparded by their Ant overseers. The ants shepard the aphids to the spots of the plant that produce the most sap. Then the aphids eat leaf material and sap and poop out honeydew, which the ants love to eat. The ants protect the aphids and use their antennae to kind of tickle the aphid's abdomen and have them work harder.

I was wondering why the plant wasn't looking very good for the first year that I've been here. A whole quarter section of the plant has been demolished by the little green bastids'.
This is the healthy side (although there are Aphids all over the new buds on that side now too and it's only a short matter of time before they've eaten up that whole side too unless I do more to stop them:

And this is the side that they've demolished:

Absolute madness. I sprayed a mixture of Neem oil and some soap on it the other day, however it's going to need a lot more to have a chance against this invasion.

Ladybugs love to eat aphids, I get tubs of them from my local Ace Hardware
