G'day mate, this is an older ESEE 5,. I didn't buy it new but it was in as new condition when I bought it. I've only used it for skinning game and cutting out back straps. As with most of my knives that's as "hard" as I use them. When done you can image the blood that is all over everything. I wipe the blade and handle down with alcohol wipes out in the bush the best I can then back home I'll wash them with hot water and dry them and sit them in the sun to dry completely. Then before I put them back in my knife drawer I'll lightly coat them in petroleum jelly and wipe them down with a microfiber cloth because it could be 6 months before I use that knife again. I have a few different ESEEs and I like to use them all.

Thanks for the replies and detailed info Dan. The ESEE 5 that looks like it was stripped, looks great. They all do. Amazing how much they look like they have been dyed as opposed to being soaked from usage.
