favorite SAK?

Victorinox Ranger.

All the stuff you need and nothing you don't.

5 Layers.

The Huntsman is a close second at 4 layers and it's only minus the Wood Chisel and the metal saw/nail file.

The Huntsman, but i have a one-hand trekker on the way via Canada post so things may change!

It's a close call between the Farmer and Camper for me. I prefer the alox scales, in-line awl and more rugged blade, but the camper offers an even larger selection of tools similar sized package and has the tweezers and toothpick to boot. The Farmer is my favorite though. Camper usually gets carried whenever I think I might need a corkscrew. ;]

Soldier, Farmer, & Tinker however...
They have been semi-retired since the arrival of my Vic Spirit

For EDC, I would have to say Tinker, but I EDC a Spartan, which is also very good. For the outdoors, it's a toss up between the Bundeswehr Mauser pattern knives and the Victorinox Camper.

Hi All,

I have around 400 Vic SAK's in my collection. I've carried a Huntsman for almost 50 years. I've worn two out and am working on doing that to a third. Great knife. Buy the way, I've cut a fair chunk of wood with the saw - never needed resharpening. Maybe that's why Vic makes saw blades for some famous other brands.:)

Best - Joe

I have to say that the Victorinox Rambler is my favorite. Its basically a classic with a magnetic phillips screwdriver/bottle opener for a 4th blade. IMO the perfect front pocket knife.

Alox cadet gets my vote. Carry it with me always and it doesn't scare the sheeple when you pull it out to cut something.

Between the Soldier or Tinker. I like alox scale, feels much better, but I still love the tinker especially for the phillips screwdriver. I know that the can opener can also be used for phillips #2 but there are so many screws that can not be reached by his tool, and a longer screwdriver like in the tinker is needed.

classic alox
outrider
jumpmaster, love that serrated curved blade
huntsman

Also my first sak, a wenger handyman, has always done well for me.

Some of my favorites are the three layer models like the super tinker, hiker, and farmer. There the perfect size to carry[for me at least] and have the most used tools.Plus if you damage one it's$20 instead of $50-$60 for a swisschamp or leatherman.

Not including multi-tools.
Mine is the Victorinox fieldmaster.
I find it to have a good variety of tools and still not be too large.

My all time favorite and EDC for over 14 years carried literally on a daily basis (that's why it's an EDC :D) is this thing -

My out of the house/away from home EDC
Scientist2.jpg

which is merely a customized version of the Victorinox Scientist
from a Victorinox sheet (circa 1992/3)

the Scientist has now long been discontinued.

My air travel EDC is the Yeoman -

this is the Scientist with scissors (and multi-purpose hook) -
this also has been discontinued.

My aim has been to get as many useful function in the most compact package -
